The Kernels aren't needed, they will only conflict with other languages or mods. Also any difficulty mod does make them redundant anyway.

Make the retranslation as a separate option but it shouldn't be on by default.

Gotcha, makes sense. ReTranslation isn't added yet though. I was waiting for R02 to be released, which looks like this weekend DLPB and Luksy will finally be finishing it. I was going to make it a separate option as well, but if it involves the kernels then I wonder how I'll do it alongside any difficulty mods because of the priority list...hmm.

EDIT: Took out chunk 9 and the kernels. Looks good to go, so I'll have this updated in the Catalog as soon as I figure out how to make patches that delete files.

Unfortunately I have a bug which prevents movies from being played...

When I start a new game it just skips the movies, goes to a black screen and shows error message  "d:/FF7/Movies/ not found" or something like that, although that's NOT the path I have specified. In fact I specified "C:\spiele\Final Fantasy VII\data\movies"... Do you know what could have caused this and how to fix it? Here is my log file:

You need to specify the movie path in 7H and in the FF7 config (either in registry, or in Aali's config? You will have to check exactly where).

Changing the movie path in 7H does not change where FF7 looks for the movies, it only lets 7H replace the movie files if you set it to the same path that FF7 is configured with.

Alright that doesn't sound too hard, where do I find that config file, or the registry key respectively?

Sometimes the game converter auto selects the drive you have the game mounted to, in fact it always does this for me no matter what and has only ever not done it once which is fairly annoying but easy to fix.

open registry editor in windows, right click the start menu, select run and type in regedit.exe.

then click edit, then find and type in "final fantasy", press F3 to keep searching the registry till you finally see one the has "MoviePath" as an editable field and double click the location and change it to whatever your game\data\movie\ path is. Make sure you put a \ after movie or it adds whatever movie it needs to the word movie instead of looking in the folder for it.

I have now changed the registry key, and the game has applied the new path but movies still won't play. Could it have something to do with he fact that the movie folder is empty? There is a 4GB sized "c6530ff8-dc04-4e5e-9908-4a0590f5e2f1_Media___Movies_1.0.iro" in my mods\7th Heaven folder though.  I don't know what to do now... I pretty much have done everything according to the tutorial.

have you set it to be an active mod and chosen which movies you wish to use?

can you also post you app log now you have changed it?

Yeah it is activated and I've chosen DLPBs movies. The other mods do seem to work, such as the enhanced backgrounds, models, animations, battle backgrounds, etc. only the movies won't work. Even if I disable and then re-enable the movies it won't work.

here is the new log file:

Looks like you are missing a backslash \ on the end of your movies path in the registry.

yup you forgot to put a backslash, and I did say very specifically in my post not to forget the backslash after movies or it will add the file name it is looking for to the word movies instead of looking for the movie in the folder.

I'm all for helping people but please read instructions properly when people are trying to help you

Yeah, it was the backslash. Works now, thanks a lot :D

I didn't realize a minor detail such as a missing backslash can make such a huge impact...

To be fair though, you did tell to put forwardslashes / instead of backslashes \  :-P

I've never not had GC recognize the movie path. But even so, you're given the option to type in the path manually and it just turned up a small user error in this case :)

It's in the registry. Easiest way is with this tool, no registry knowledge necessary.

Yeah I did notice as well lol. Either way at least now it is fixed :P

the GC doesn't give me the option to set it manually at all, it literally skips straight through everything. It automatically finds the mounted image and then sets it and continues. The first time I ever used the GC it did give the option to set it manually right at the beginning but when I did a fresh install of my computer and went to use it again it did the auto detect and set actions.

It only asks to type it in manually when it can't find the moviepath automatically.

I mean it doesn't give the option to set it at all. The first time I ever used the GC it said movie path located at blah blah, is this correct or to set my own and include the parenthesis. This option is never ever appeared since even with a fresh windows install. It will just detect the mounted disc one image, set that and then load the FF7 Config. The only way now is to do it via the registry.

Not true, it still does all that. I took out all the jibberish from the command prompt because it scrolled through it so quickly that no one could possibly read it before it scrolled off the screen. Now it just records it all in FF7_GC.log, so check there.

Honestly it really really doesn't give those options anymore. I installed the Windows 10 Tech Preview a couple of days ago and so had to set up 7H again and as usual it auto detected the mounted image and set that as the movie path with no confirmation or choice given. I have attached my log for you to look at.
