Well, this worked fine on my old monitor. Refuses to work with my new LCD. Native resolution is 1440x900, and it refuses to switch into anything above that in either dimension. Anything smaller gets scaled up though, so another "black bars" mod would work. Pretty much any widescreen monitor would need the same change, since only the really high end ones are anything above 900 tall.

Hi ppl!

First I must thanks The SaiNt for this wonderful patch :-).

But I once got this patch by following the link of Elentor.... but now those links doesn't work anymore so I got it from this thread... but I think it's an older version since the battle fonts aren't patch in this version... anyone know where I can get the version that Elentor had??

Thanks in advance.

Yup, halfway down under fun stuff; I need to edit the page though, as, obviously, the forums here are back up =)  Should be the latest version, though why don't you just grab it from the DL link on the first page of this thread?

I think the patch u're looking for was an older version, maybe 0.96 or something. But i dunno where you can get it, sry.

Yeah, the smaller numbers made for effed up (...) and ZZZs... not worth it, IMO.

EDIT: OH, wait, you mean on the bottom?

Turn off AA, that might do it for ya.

No I wasn't talking about the text on the bottom... I was speaking about the number that shows how damage you do... well... maybe it doesn't worth it but with the other version the number are a little misplaced witch makes the a little cut at the bottom and right edge.

[EDIT]

BTW I tried the AA on and didn't have any problem with this patch, I think that the bottom problem in the picture is something that have been tested but not implemented in this version because of some problemes like this.

Hey storm, did you make the second screenshot in your post? If yes, how did you get the 2D-elements be filtered? Its bilinear i think.

Well nope I just linked one of the pics that are in the first page of this thread... I just wanted to show the fonts of the damage.... sorry... and yep it's Billinear Interpolation... but it's still experimental so it's not on this version.

Hi, I applied the 1.02 patch, then the hi-res patch, and when I open the game now, it's all blocky like it's on a grid. Any ideas?

The gridlines you are describing are probably becuase you're running full scene anti-aliasing.  You can get rid of it by disabling it.  However, if you have an nVidia card, check out the first post of the FAQ that allows you FSAA with FF7 without the gridlines.

Hello Saint.  I doubt you remember me but we've talked a few times before.  I hope you do not mind my asking, but have you made any progress on the backgrounds?  Like 2XSAI or Bilinear filtering?  I only ask because I haven't played through FF7 in a couple years because I've been waiting for the patch to be finished before I do.  Thanks so much for tolerating me :)

No I haven't and it doesn't look like I'll have time in the near future to do it.
It's just too much work and I don't have the time to do it.
As it stands, the patch is "quite" complete.

How did you get the high resolution again? Was it from hacking out the Directx component of the exe?

No, the directx layer is actually too late to change anything in the code, so I have done it far earlier in the game engine itself.

Is it possible to make one that runs at 960x720, as this seems to be the highest multiple 320x240 that fits on my laptop's screen.
Many other people - myself included - already asks for this feature several times. It seems that laptops - and therefore this special problem - become more and more frequent nowadays.

Maybe we can persuade TheSaint to make a final fix to his patch.

My laptop does only support a max res. of 1280x800 too, but DO play FF7 on that laptop with highres, because i run in window mode and change the desktop res. to 1280x960 when playing (cant see parts of the screen then, but its better than playing without highres).
