@PoisonJohnny
I think I may have found a fix if you could give it a try and let us know please.

Right click the 7thheaven and set and set the compatibility to run as as administrator. apply and close.
Then find the FF7 exe you are using eg.. ff7_bc right click and set compatibility to run in 640x480. Don't worry the opengl plugin will override this anyway.
Next go back into 7thheaven and try launching the game.
This seems to have worked for me going to test on my tab that had same problem.

I'm having the same exact issue: here's a screenshot if it helps anyone https://imgur.com/a/kJoUQka
Is that an .IRO you packaged yourself?  I've never seen that mod listed when doing a catalog search/refresh, which makes me wonder if something about it could be the root of your problem.

Start with no mods activated and see if the error is still there.

hi, I'm having the same problem. i'v checked all my settings, uninstalled/reinstalled, and tried running with no mods. when run with no mods all i get is a box saying No mods have been activated. When run the .exe, _bc.exe and _mo.exe directly and that seems to work fine.

edit: this fixed it for me

If this gives you any idea of my lack of tech skill, I have no idea what that means. Is there any information I can post to help solve this issue? Launching with no mods activated just tells me that I have no mods activated, running it as admin and setting the compatibility doesn't help either.

Then I'm pretty sure it isn't something you did yourself ;)

Try launching with just a single, lightweight but easy to verify mod from the catalog activated, and see what happens.  ("Menu - Avatars and Backdrops" could be a good candidate)
