Well, I suggest to add monitor refresh rate configuration, 'cause 60Hz is not cool.
I wrote about this in the previous thread.
Thx for fixing screensavers problem!

You are mistaken.  There is a difference between your monitor refresh rate and a game "frames per second".   FF7 runs at maximum 60 frames a second and it doesn't matter what your refresh rate is that is how it has to be.  The game is limited to 60 by its internal workings.  60fps is cool in fullscreen mode, it will provide sufficient smoothness and gameplay for FF7.  FF7 is limited to 15fps in battles, 60fps in menus and 30fps on world map and field.  It is sufficient for this game (with exception of battle fps which is being changed to 60 for other reasons).

Your monitor refresh rate has nothing to do with it.  In Fullscreen mode, 60Hz monitor RR  is good with 60fps gameplay, and infact Vsync will work towards this. I am not sure how FF7 works in fullscreen mode but I am guessing it forces your refresh rate to 60 to match the game, and that would be a correct way for this game to operate.

DLPB, I'm not complaining about FPS, it's fine. The thing is, I have a CRT monitor, and it produces an irritating flicker at 60Hz, and the picture also deforms on edges. I hate it, so I have to switch to monitor settings and set 85Hz every time I run the game, and it looks fine then! The only problem is a little bit too fast fps in minigames, which becomes 42.5 with the driver's frame limiter enabled.

Updated: have noticed a glitch. Some odd-looking stripes (how do you call them btw?) have appeared in the menues. It's ok on 0.7.8b with the same configuration file.

Updated:
Prevented screensavers and sleep/suspend from activating while the game is running.
Strange, I still get a screensaver activated during the gameplay.

Those odd-looking stripes is an oversight on my part, its fixed now and you should redownload. Its odd that your screensaver still kicks in, its really not supposed to. That your monitor goes to 60hz is unfortunately out of my control. I dont set the refresh rate anywhere.

I suppose the game sets 60Hz on any monitor, not only mine, it's just not noticeable on LCD's. But you can check it by setting refresh rate other than 60Hz and then running FF7 in fullscreen mode and visiting some minigame with V-sync and fps counter on. And that is the issue of the original game, not your driver, if you thought so.

Have you tried turning off v-sync? Since v-sync is tied to fps and the game has a framelimiter at 60fps.

I know VSYNC locks your FPS to your refresh rate, but I'm not sure if it works the other way around when a frame limiter is in place. Worth a shot though.

Next version will have a config option that lets you set the desired refresh rate.

I seem to be able to get the Team Avalanche project patch to install with 7.8b, but not with 7.9b...is this problem confined just to me?

Looks like It doesn't kick in if I play on keybord, but it skill kicks in when I play on my  gamepad or when I don't perform any actions.

Yeah, I have experimented. As pyrozen said, it doesn't work that way.

Great, will be waiting :)

*Sigh*, I should have known these fancy shaders would break alot of shitty drivers.. Even some nvidia setups apparently can't handle them properly, even though I use nvidia myself to do all my testing.

I'll add a link to the release thread where you can download dumbed-down shaders similar to the ones in 0.7.8b. Visually there should be no change.

Yeah I'm getting this shader thing too - mainly after the eidos logo

I have recent drivers but seems 7th series nvidia cards and lower have issues.  Aali solve dmy issue yesterday with these new dumbed down shaders.

Oh well :)

heads up for anyone using Intel Mobile 4 Series Express Chipset, you MUST use the older shaders otherwise the game moves like frozen molasses. No crashes, but it is totally unplayable. I can imagine most non-performance laptops may have this issue as well.

Thanks for the quick fix Aali, i nearly posted an issue and saw you had already corrected it.

After upgrade the Aali's driver, the Knights of the Round summon rendering very slow and give me that error:

GLITCH: deferred draw queue overflow

This happening with or without high res texture.

My spec:
Windows 7 64bit
Nvidia 8800m GT
4Gb Ram
C2D 2Ghz

Thats what I get for trying to fix z-sort issues the easy way. With fancy_transparency off it will not do that.

Yes, but fancy_transparency is one of the best feature... Can't turn it off, so please make a fix or a regression, I don't think z-sort is one of biggest issue.

I have already fixed it but thats the only workaround for now unless you want to downgrade to 0.7.8b.
