Yes. It doesnt show the backgrounds and the 3D is making strange things.
I dunno how to fix it, but i managed to start the game and wait till the boss appears.

Hasn't this been adressed before?

Try reading elsewhere, or look up gridlines, I had them too..

Change your Config to TNT

no, it was a different issue than's already been addressed.

though I resolved it by installing correct nvidia drivers instead of using random MS bull drivers.

Hey guys. I have a problem aplying the patch.
I'm using the TNT patch (1.02), the Spanish version, and doesn't work (Wrong size). Can you do something? Thanks!

What do I need to install this patch?
You need the FFVII PC US 1.02 executable and the US version of FFVII PC and be able to start the game with it installed.
Other versions will NOT work, so don't even bother asking.
Your monitor & video card must also be able to display a resolution of 1280x960. (Check in Windows Display settings)
Read the first post of this topic, or use the search button.  This has been addressed so many times... I believe someone got another language working.  Try a search and you'll find it.

EDIT:
Fine, I'll be nice since your new...
Here is the tutorial for applying the great HighRes Patch on non-english versions:

1. Make a fresh FULL install from your original FFVII CD.
2. Get the english 1.02 XP Patch.
3. Overwrite the original FF7.exe and the FF7Config.exe in your Gamefolder with the patched ones found in the archive.
4. Apply Saints great HighRes Patch, just like posted in these thread.
5. Replace your language-code from following files:

..\data\cd\cr_gm.lgp
..\data\cd\disc_gm.lgp
..\data\menu\menu_gm.lgp
..\data\wm\world_gm.lgp
..\data\minigame\high-ge.lgp (YES it's "-" in stead of "_")
..\data\minigame\snowboard-ge.lgp (YES it's "-" in stead of "_")

-> into filename_us.lgp (ie. ..\data\cd\cr_gm.lgp -> ..\data\cd\cr_us.lgp)

6. Remove the language-letter form follwing files:

..\FFVII\data\field\gflevel.lgp
..\FFVII\data\minigame\gchocobo.lgp
..\FFVII\data\minigame\gcondor.lgp
..\FFVII\data\minigame\gsub.lgp

(ie. ..\FFVII\data\field\gflevel.lgp -> ..\FFVII\data\field\flevel.lgp)

These are the german files, if you want to patch another version, just look for the same files ending with your language code (ie. _sp for spanish or _fr for french, _it for italian i guess). The files beginning with g, in my german version, should start with s, f or i, relating to your language.

After doing so, you should be able to play the game in HighRes and in your language. Only the Menu still remains in english, but this should not to be a problem.
But this was in the first post of the topic.  Next time check their, do a search, or check a FAQ thread before posting the same question.

Hello guys,

the high res patch makes my FF7 crash. When i try to open FF7 it crash right away. If the High Res patch is not installed everything works fine i have played the game with the 1.02 and even with the High res cloud patch. i have tried so many things and i really don't know what to do. By the way i have an ATI radeon 9600 XT 256meg i think the problem is with my video cart but i have looked a lot on this forums and i have found nothing. Any Suggestion are more then welcome.

I just got this patch working. I noticed that whenever there is a symbol above someone's head for a status affect it is all garbled. You might have addressed this in the list of things that aren't fixed yet, but I wasn't sure if you were talking about this or something else. Also, when I was fighting Bizarro Sephiroth and it would ask me if I'm worried about the other party, the positive answer was overlapping the negative one, though I could still select either. I don't know if you are aware of that or not.

The only thing about it that I don't like is how small and spread-out the digits are for damage or health received during battle. They are harder to read and it looks like a non-proportional font. If you could change it back to how it was that would be nice. Also, I can enable FSAA now, but whether I put it on None, Application-Controlled, 2x, 2xQ, 4x, or 8xS, I don't notice any difference in the edges or anything else for that matter in the game. Perhaps if I reinstall FF7 and apply this patch before anything else (besides the 1.02 patch of course).

Other than that, it looks good.

Do you have an ATI-Card? Cuz they have a maximum resolution when you enable AA, when the res. is higher, there will be no AA, if you enable it or not.

I have an eVGA GeForce 6800 with the NVIDIA box checked and a dot in the TNT radio button.

Why do I get the feeling that you have an outdated version of HighRes? Garbled status icons and that text bug were fixed (IIRC).

Hmm, that could be. Let me see what version I have...

v0.92a

Ah...well that would do it. I got it from the program compilation topic assuming it was the latest one. I'll certainly get the latest one. Thank you.

By the way, I notice that on the first page, he said that after the 1.02 patch, the HighRes patch should be applied, and then your (dziugo) patches. Which ones might he be refering to?

EDIT: Also, I have a CRT and my desktop is at 1280 x 1024 because my screen's aspect ratio is 5:4. I know it can easily switch to 1280 x 960, but would that be better than applying the 1280 x 1024 one?

No, because a res. of 1280x960 on a 1280x1024 Monitor makes just some lines of pixels appear doubled, and that looks very crappy.
In that case, the patch for 1280x1024 is better cuz it makes a black bar on the bottom of the screen.

dziugo has a bunch of patches, the ones in particular that I can think of are (the ones that I use ):
- break 9999 limit
- always run
- battle swirl fix
- mini game speed fix
- transparent dialogs

Check out this topic: https://www.ff7catalog.com/threads/2986/

It'll explain everything about his patches.

Ah. After posting that I found them. I tried them out and while I liked the break 9999 limit one, it allowed me to finish off Emerald Weapon with a little over 18 minutes remaining. That's just insane. But I suppose beating it with 15 minutes remaining normally is still pretty good. Since the game wasn't designed to have us breaking the 9999 limit, it would make it too easy later on, which I guess is where the hardcore patch would come in.

any news about a new version with the european support?
Just do the following:

I have some other problem that isn't stated in the FAQ. What do I do
Read through the original thread here and the remainder of this thread over and see if it answers your question.
If it doesn't go ahead and post your question in this topic, hopefully someone will be able to help you.
It worked perfectly for me
