can you create an patch for the resoultion 1280x800 to play it on notebooks?

That would be awesome, but I doubt it would work well. Maybe if you don't mind losing the bottom of the screen...

Well, due to the weird screensize things in the game, it wouldn't make a huge difference in
          most of the game. Menus,
                                       however, would be screwed.

That'd be cool, i have to play FF7 in window mode, but i lose the bottom 160 pixels of the screen
Couldnt we just squeeze the game a bit?

Oh my gosh, manual screen scaling? That would look like crap, throw off the proportions, and be highly difficult to implement.

FF7 is not charmin toilet paper >=O

:-D
Could we make a [anything less 1280]x800 Patch so the proportions are the same?

It's been stated that using anything that is not a multiple of 320x240 would be tough.  Also, it's been stated that there will be no new resolutions coming anytime soon.

Yes, but like it also had  been posted several times before, this still leaves the possible resolution of 960X720, which most Laptops with a 1280x800 screen can support.
Last time, The Saint posted about this, he seemed a little bit bored to still continue working on this project and therefore wasn't interested in supporting any other new features (like resolutions etc.). Since he is doing this in his spare time, I can understand and respect this, but on the other hand leaves me a little bit disappointed.
Whatever...

Once I patch my FF7.exe file and double click it, it doesn't run the game.
I have the TNT patch installed btw.

please
how to translate a menu to the language wanted ?
thanks you very much

There is only one way. A crappy way. Get an Hex editor , edit FF7.EXE, find the text of the menus and replace it by what you want. Of course, you won't be able to use strings longer that the original ones (unless you know how to change the offsets, personally I don't) so you will most likely need to shorten the words.
Quiet frankly, I wouldn't bother.

Tried reinstalling it and patching it again.
It says the pacthes were installed properly, but the game won't even start when I click the EXE.

If there is no error message, check if you're using 640x480 TNT mode and if your monitor/graphics card supports 1280x960.

nevermind, It's my moniter, it doesn't support anything above 1024X768

oh well...

Unless there is a mod or something for my moniter.

any news about a new version with the european support?
Just do the following:

Here is the tutorial for applying the great HighRes Patch on non-english versions:

1. Make a fresh FULL install from your original FFVII CD.
2. Get the english 1.02 XP Patch.
3. Overwrite the original FF7.exe and the FF7Config.exe in your Gamefolder with the patched ones found in the archive.
4. Apply Saints great HighRes Patch, just like posted in these thread.
5. Replace your language-code from following files:

..\data\cd\cr_gm.lgp
..\data\cd\disc_gm.lgp
..\data\menu\menu_gm.lgp
..\data\wm\world_gm.lgp
..\data\minigame\high-ge.lgp (YES it's "-" in stead of "_")
..\data\minigame\snowboard-ge.lgp (YES it's "-" in stead of "_")

-> into filename_us.lgp (ie. ..\data\cd\cr_gm.lgp -> ..\data\cd\cr_us.lgp)

6. Remove the language-letter form follwing files:

..\FFVII\data\field\gflevel.lgp
..\FFVII\data\minigame\gchocobo.lgp
..\FFVII\data\minigame\gcondor.lgp
..\FFVII\data\minigame\gsub.lgp

(ie. ..\FFVII\data\field\gflevel.lgp -> ..\FFVII\data\field\flevel.lgp)

These are the german files, if you want to patch another version, just look for the same files ending with your language code (ie. _sp for spanish or _fr for french, _it for italian i guess). The files beginning with g, in my german version, should start with s, f or i, relating to your language.

After doing so, you should be able to play the game in HighRes and in your language. Only the Menu still remains in english, but this should not to be a problem.
I have some other problem that isn't stated in the FAQ. What do I do
Read through the original thread here and the remainder of this thread over and see if it answers your question.
If it doesn't go ahead and post your question in this topic, hopefully someone will be able to help you.
It worked perfectly for me
