Hey, Nhyone!

I'm glad you were able to figure it out. I've only ever used the Steam version, so I only assume it's the same as the PC original.

Hi mate. Lots of people are asking me to add your mod to my installer, and also to junction8 the new mod manager for 2000/2013 version. Would you agree to have it there ?
Thanks for your work.

Oh please do Percival would be great to have a mod of this caliber  on the installers

@hobbitdur

Hey, Hobbit!  I don't have a problem with including my mod in any installer list or manager. Are these tools available, yet, or are you still working on them?

Also, thanks Gunner!  I always appreciate the enthusiasm.

They are available, my own installer got super seeded by Junction8 https://www.tsunamods.com/junction-viii/
If you want to join in discord of qhimm, we can discuss for the integration :) Would be better if it's you that does it so you have your name on it ! Can help you through the process.

I came back to see what has changed in the past couple of years. lol
Is this still being worked on/updated, or? :)
Hope you've been well, Percival!
Your story mod deserves to be added to the FF8 mod installers, because I don't think there's any other story mod that rivals Succession in quality.
Any future plans for this mod?

Ok now that I have worked with Ragnarok, I will try to port this one to JunctionVIII. You are obviously welcome if you want to participate to the porting.

Ok porting of 1.10 done, now it can be used with many others mod.
Feel free to try it or pass on the discord to exchange about it :).
Thanks a lot for your work on this mod !

So, I'm a bit confused about the premise of this mod.

"This mod is not a fan fiction, or a way to insert speculative theories into the narrative. Instead, it is an attempt to enhance the story that already exists."

And yet, from my admittingly limited research, it seems that both amnesia and Time Compression were present in the original Japanese script? This seems like a very significant change to the core narrative and something a localizer would almost never, ever do. It seems like the better approach would have been to rework and explain those concepts better than to remove them outright.

I appreciate the time and effort that was clearly put into this project, I'm not trying to disparage it. I would just like a clearer understanding of it's contents in order to accurately assess if it is for me.

Hi Solidshredder. I am in no way the author of this mod, but just wanted to give my humble opinion.
He didn't add new fan fiction (linoa = ultimecia), but instead remove some part that were given for no obvious reason (suddenly everyone as amnesia but no clue given before the reveal ?). Succession prefered to remove unexplained plot by a more consistent story.

So yes it really changes the story, so if you are looking for just a character improvement that's not your mod. If you want to try a new coherent story you can try it !

@solidshredder  Hey, Solid!

Based on my description, how in the world did you get the impression that this mod was strictly a localization? Did you read the part where I called it a comprehensive script overhaul?

I understand the way it might seem at first, but you couldn’t be more incorrect about the significance of the amnesia and the Time Compression to the overall core narrative. I had originally considered trying to rework and explain both of them. But I was shocked and embarrassed to discover how much easier and more natural it was to omit them entirely. This was especially true of the amnesia, which only required rewriting a few lines outside of the basketball court scene itself. Far from being significant, they seemed as though they were stapled on at the last minute with very little thought or care. If you actually attempted to keep and develop these concepts in greater depth yourself within the context of the story itself (not simply in a separate document or on a post), you would quickly come to the same conclusion.

I’m flattered that you acknowledge the time and effort of this project, and I thank you for not merely disparaging it based on things you may not prefer. I don’t know how to be more clear about the nature of this mod than I have already been in my description, unless you want specific examples. Read some of the numerous posts here with the pros and cons from people who have already played it. That should tell you whether you will think I changed too much or too little.

What I can say is that if you are more of a fan of FF8 than you are of good writing in general, and if you would prefer a mod to be more faithful rather than deviate for the primary sake of being an improvement, then this mod might not be for you.
