Does anyone know how to add vertex color/ lighting..
so i can show it better?

Cause i am just learning max.... and i don't know how to work the lighting
:S

getting closer i think you need to thin the body up a little bit in chibi the head should = the torso
nop' not even in ff9 the head = the torso.

Chibi's generally have really slender necks, and very wide, slightly flattened jawlines... Arms legs and torso are usually thinned out to make them seem a little scrawnier, and large amounts of detail are removed from the character for simplicity. Feet an hands are generally enlarged. Eyes are usually huge, noses are mostly nonexistent, and mouths are usually very small unless some emotive action is being taken(which leads to the mouth becoming bigger than the head almost...)

My advice: Shrink the neck, squash the head a little, and make everything else a bit smaller except for hands and feet.

Truth. It's also worth noting that female chibis often have bigger eyes (and more exaggerated features generally) than males, although this is less pronounced in the original FF7 models.

Kudos, Kudistos. I shall give an example of some features chibis generally have... *points at Kudistos' Lucky Star avatar* That, my friends, is in fact, a form of chibi.

Here's one that I made earlier

I've Kept the scale the same as the original and as an added bonus he has Millenia's Custom Buster Sword on his back.

Indeed  :-D

I'd say that Tsukasa is the best example of chibi

That's actually a really nice model; bravo!

I'm planning on making a Barret Field Model using Timu's Barret Battle Model as reference

i was gonna make a chibi out of it :P i'll incorporate some uv switches to do things like making the eyes bigger n stuff like that too,

this may be late, but i thought the "chibis are taking over the earth" thing was cute

This post is made obsolete due to bad eyesight...
