Oh, just saw an interesting concept how ice should look, will try to do something like that tomorrow=)

I'm with Obesebear on this one. The previous texture looks more like ice, whereas this is... pretty blue crystals (:
 
I also prefer the previous, the second texture seems like it would be better places in Kingdom Hearts than Final Fantasy.
 
Still think original, simply because it looks sharp and smooth and the right effect.  It isn't so much as realistic, but how you expect it in a game.  :)
 
When the model is animated the old ice texture effect was noisy as hell (cause of 1px dots), so I had to change the effect.
Though I can return the edge lines from it:

Damn that 3rd one. It almost looks too good to be in Final Fantasy brilliant job.

Still prefer the original though It fits in more.
 
The texture is beautiful but it obscures the character significantly.
It's good to see who is frozen!
FF7 always has transparency issues.
 
Ouch, no surprise, some FeliX's works ! Magnificent textures as allways !

I'm not used to say the smallest critical concerning FeliX (I mean I never found something to criticize) but I have to agree with PitBrat.

Anyway, transparencies allways complicate things on FF7, so maybe it's not so easy to have a  transparent enough ice without it being too much. So I have to add, I agree with PitBrat, but it's not really a big issue to me...

Personaly I don't like it either that the white blends together into a stronger one=(
iirc there were other blend modes, maybe they will help

It still looks like original in terms of shape but the textures are more improved in my opinion

It looks like snow to me, not like ice=/
