I'm still waiting for someone to explain why this transparency glitch occurs and come up with a fix.

you remember the issue with barrets face flickering right and some how you fixed by making it pure solid correct would that method work as well for getting rid with the transperency altogether.

No, it won't work.  The transparency issue is completely different from the blinking heads.
Someone with a better understanding of how the game engine renders models will have to figure this one out.

try asking bloodshot shot i just recalled he might have done with his to fix it

You need to start right at the beginning.  Is there some kind of major tutorial around here people for newbies?
I figured out what was wrong.

I was installing the proper way, but as I mentioned in the Menu Overhaul thread, the installer falls apart (silently) in WINE.

After running the installer from a terminal, I was able to determine that it opens thousands of file descriptors and thousands of cmd.exe.

This may be a problem with WINE, perhaps some kind of scheduling bug, or it may be that windows lax security allows this behavior.

arrrghh.... i guess i must show pitbrat the problem with a picture :x

btw why is your font dodgy?  That is not looking as kick ass as the one I made.  It is wonky and stuff.

had issues with your MO verson 5a at the time but fixed it on my own

U03 is here

Remember to look at the Readme found on the license page of the installer.  Do not use PRP Materia as they are worse than the originals here and don't animate right either.

Just installed U03. I found a couple of glitches shown here with Aerith
ff72012070401253974.jpg

And here with Sephiroth (sorry if you can barely see)
ff72012070401280849.jpg

Basically both of them are missing their heads and body. Now, these are just with the cut-scenes, on the field they both look fine.

Haha, I totally spaced. I didn't even notice the picture above had the same issue as mine. Was looking at Tseng and Sephi lol. So there's no known fix for this yet? If not, it doesn't bother me so much. As I said, everything in the field is working just fine. Plus, I just whooped Demon Gate's...arms and head

As far as Pitbrat has told me this is not our issue... it is an issue with the porting of ff7 to PC...

Nice. Gotta love ports lol. Well, sorry for taking up thread space  :|

Weird.. even the Summon Materia on that map is transparent... I wonder if this is a script issue?

Well the initial scene is correct:

They are looking into the water so that is normal to have transparency there as I always thought.  But the main issue is parts of the models missing during this scene...  especially when using high res sephiroth.

Kranmer has made this vid

The bug does not seem to be there with the original models...
That is about perfect and consistent with PSX.

edit. I will look into the order the files appear in the hrc file.

Well it isn't the port after all.  Original models work fine.  This is something to do with transparency effect with new models.  I have an idea... get back to you if I get somewhere.

Ok well my final word on this... I can't do anything about it.  I don't think Pitbrat can either.  The problem likely lies in the grouping of the model parts or oversights when PRP created the models.  They would have to fix it... or someone who is more competent with models.  Maybe Grimmy can do it?
-----------

I and pitbrat cannot sort it out.   During the temple scene, the script adds a transparent effect to the models.  If the models are different (in some way to the originals), the draw method corrupts the models. The hair goes in front of the face. (With Squallff8 versions, the model loses parts in game) Pitbrat reckons the issue lies in how the parts have  been grouped.  If anyone can sort this much obliged.  A save right before this issue is here:

The files in question are here:

Aali had this to say:

[14:29] <Aali> could be the order of the items
[14:29] <Aali> could be that some flags are wrong and z-sorting is not applied
[14:30] <Aali> could be that z-sorting is applied but does it wrong due to the simple nature of the algorithm
==========

Note, people having the "disappearing parts" issue with Aerith etc, are likely selcting squallff8's versions of the main characters in the installer.

Wow, that is a damn shame. It just happened to me again. After switching to disc 2 and Cloud seeing Sephi going towards the Snow fields. I'm sure someone on these forums will figure it out eventually. I have great faith in you guys

Yeah forgot about that one... that also uses transparency.  Other main area is Cloud's mind in Midhir (mideel).
