7th Heaven Issue - Can't Start New Game

Hey there everyone. I recently installed 7th Heaven, but as soon as I get to the main menu, all keyboard inputs become non-responsive, effectively stopping me on the greyed out continue option. I can hit ESC to skip to the main menu, but once I'm there that's it. Any tips? I reinstalled and made sure the exe is running with administrative privileges as well. Also, not sure if it's relevant, but there's no music or SFX in the opening Eidos/SquareSoft sequence either. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
 
Does your keyboard not have a Numpad? Default controls are binded on the Numpad. If not, run the game converter again and type Y to install the Keyboard patch when asked at the end.

I have a laptop with no Numpad. Used the on screen keyboard and now I'm in! Thanks :)
