Ok.. this really sucks.. i have just installed ff7 and like alot of other people here, the 8-bit palette failed.. so i looked at other theads and found a patch, the Riva_tnt thing.. then i installed it, and did what the readme told me to do >_>.. then i go to the configurations, and push "Nvidia" and then "Riva" (i also tried TNT, same problem) and when i push ok and try to start the game now, it only comes a little box up wich says i need to insert iether disc 1 2 or 3 into the cd drive.. so i try, but all the time the screen becomes black and then everything becomes grey and i have to use ctrl alt delete to turn the program of.. ... so.. what the hell am i supposed to do!?
I know there is alot of other threads like this, but i cant find my problem in any others...

Silly question: It asks you for a correct cd whenever you're trying to run FF7?

I'm still a noobies nuts lol, but I'll try my best to help u.
Ok U have patched the game with the ff7.exe and te ff7.config files.

By the sounds of it ya putting Disc1 into the cd drive say d:

Then on loadup of the game u get a Grey screen, frozen, lockup.

Have u tried it in Software Mode as yet. See if it will run there first.
If it runs ok it means u have a 3D hardware problem, normally fixed my updating drivers. If it doesnt run in software mode then try and reinstall the game.

uh dziugo, no its not a silly question, cause i have tried all the cd's and nothing happends..

over to Scotty.. software mode.. um i feel stupid asking this but, whats that? and where can i find it?

In the D3D box above Riva and TNT options, theres a software option in a dropdown box.

uh dziugo, no its not a silly question, cause i have tried all the cd's and nothing happends..
So... what would be the answer to my silly question? :P

Remember that you have to use the drive you've installed FF7 from (if you installed it from E: drive, then the game would search for a correct disk in E: drive...).

....that seems like an odd thing to make a game do.... but... hey, that's just me....

Its a problem that made me think my disks were borked....

Luckily I swapped the disk to the other drive and it worked.

Wow. I never would have thought that!!! I'm glad I know that now... I would have gotten uber mad!!

Guess I won't be playing from my originals anytime soon then.. oh well *pats protective sleeve* they have served me well, and it's a miracle they still work.. what with that damn digipack case and all... things fall out all the time... get scratched easily... totally ineffective design..... -_-

Ok thanks for all the info guys! But i have fixed it ^^  THanks for answering =)

Not sure if I was any help or not, but, no problemo. Hope everything works out for ya.
