A lot of Questions

Hi Guys....I m Italian...(sorry 4 my bad English T_T)..and i love FFVIII...(i have a "real" gunblade (steel ~ 2kg) scale 1:1 *.*)

However...I need a little help with these requests:
1) I want to "mod" FFVIII ( I love it *.*) for pc or psx (no difference)...and i need a Extractor for the .IMG files (ff8extractor.exe)...But all your links have expired T_T...
2)If I want to change the character models .. is there any guidance or help on this? (for example using the program Blender...bla bla bla)
3)I would like to know if you know any program or even the GameShark codes to put the guardian force in the party...
4)This forum is so ***** fantastic i m love it >_<
5) Maximum size of the avatar? XD

Sorry 4 my bad english (i've used sometimes the google's translator -.-) ...however thx in advance for the answers..

I think the max avatar size is 8kb.  I don't remember anymore though

The software is set for a 80kb limit, but the rules state this:

• Keep avatars roughly to the 6kb, 60x60 limit.  Also try to make sure they're not offensive.

But it's not TOO strict. My avatar is close to 8kb, and I'm not receiving a lot of complaints about it. And it's bigger than 60x60. Huh, I wonder if either the software settings or the rules should be changed to match.

Well, character models can't be changed, although there is some progress in extracting them from the game, there's no way of putting them back in yet.

As for having the GFs as party members, I've never seen any gameshark codes to support that, so for now I don't thinks that's possible either.


For the time being the modding capabilities of FF8 are virtually non-existent.

You know, it's almost scary how far we've gotten on FF7, but we've made virtually no progress on FF8.... And actually I remember seeing a video not that long ago on youtube about how Griever was a party member in the battle against Odin. I don't know if this was psx or PC version, or if it was gameshark or a mod, but it was definitely interesting to watch.

Agreed... One of the reasons I haven't played ff8 again yet is the lack of mods for it...

Qhimm: Well, FF8 is more well-written than FF7. That is to say, one reason FF7 PC has seen more progress is that it was badly written and often uses simple data file formats.

Ficedula: I've got FF8 PC (it was what got me into Qhimm's forums) but the only things I wrote for it were a very basic savegame editor for Chocobo World and helped with the FF8 Configurator/soundfont tools, so I know basically nothing about the file formats.

Qhimm: FF8's files are stored in a more complex manner, and honestly there is less demand and interest for FF8, when you can spend the time on FF7 instead

I see that video...is amazing.....after i found this forum...very interesting...how many people ... and how many things there are....and for that I hoped to have this answer ... regardless of the version for the PC or the PSX...T_T
