After reading some of this, I loaded up PS1 FFVII on the CRT I keep around for my older consoles, even unmodded, PC version does actually look a bit cleaner, in the end though, it's personal opinion.

Also, FFVII on PS3 looks like ass regardless of using the scaling or not.

Dunno what kind of setup you have but the PS3 is literally a PS1. At least it uses that same hardware. (I could be wrong on this) but the way I understand it was a ps1 was literally built right in, it switches to it when a ps1 game is loaded up.

Yeah I kinda figured a majority of people on here feel the same way, this is a FFVII PC modding site after all. Heck, the game could load to a blue screen and you still get people claiming it looks better. It's like me going to a Xenogears site and saying the game looks garbled., I'll get shot down, but does it? yes.


However, popular opinion on the interwebs believes FFVII PC looks like crap. But they are giving it a second shot! YAY thats rare.
 
It goes both ways...If you go to a FF7 PSX forum they would say the opposite. It's just how people work.

Difference is here you have some technologically savvy people who actually can test it and see the difference, while most other people just post an answer and don't care to check it or do anything to confirm it, thinking they are right just because it's the end of their fake little world when they aren't

My thoughts exactly. :) What's going to be very interesting, in the future, is when you have TWO versions of the same game. FF7 PC vs FF7 PC Re-release. You will get the old modders vs the new (presumably moders) claiming one version is better then another. (regardless if it is or not)


me I have set the bar very low for the SE team for the new FF7PC... Adjustable resolution, fix the bugs, and make the background's decent. I think they are, any PC game found on the market today has adjustable resolution.
 
I've not once had an issue with FF7 PC crashing, Not ever. I honestly will blame the computer before the game. And mine is modded out very nicely with all the graphics mods/fixes (magic Defense fix is really the only one to be honest)

I just wanted to point that out. Moving on.

The PS3 is not anywhere near a PS1, different CPU architecture for starters. i could go into specifics but no-one wants that cause my post would be HUGE.

Scanlines aren't a PS1 "Feature" it's a "feature" of old CRT's, well the interlaced ones (you can get progressive scan CRTs) as it's a side effect of interlacing.

Basically everything i could say has been said by either bloodshot or DLPB.

Now, Unmodded, au natural, PC vs PSX? I'd give it to PSX just all around better. BUT, with the mods we have here, PC was kind enough to get some vaseline for the PSX's poor anus, as it sodomized it.

There you go, You'll have to package it in a format for Aali's driver. But thats the code of a scanline filter.

I have solved one issue. Next is the blurriness added by a CRT, add in a blur filter to the above code, and add a nice low setting to it.

As for crashing, scan with Malwarebytes (malwarebytes.org) and remove any infection, next update your graphics driver (that will help with any gaming you may do anyway) If need be reinstall FF7 with mods of your choice (if you'd like i can just send it all to you in a prepackaged ZIP, just lemme know the resolution of your monitor)

i have broken down your points made. The final thing is yes, two minigames are broken, And sadly only Aali can fix that, and i know he will. After that you have no complaints about the PC(modded) vs PS1. and the PC(modded) is by far, superior.

This is from someone who still has, and plays occasionally. FF7 on an original fat PS1.
 
Basically Mako is too high on Nostalgia.  That is the tl;dr of it.  The minigames aren't broken. I fixed them.  Aali just has to implement my crap.

Forgive my ignorance but is pete's drivers out-of-the-box compatible with Aali's driver? At a glance they are not. I don't know what you mean by 're-package' them. unless you mean re-wright them from scratch. Making this, useless breakdown #1

Dual shaders are not supported by Aali's driver. So you pick one shader or another. You linked me to a couple of demo examples. Congratz you know how to google. Making this useless breakdown #2

Thank you, I'm pretty adept at navigating Aali's drivers. and having created some of the mods you probably are using... Makes this useless breakdown #3 Furthermore, different hardware types, while some may be flawless others may not be, with the same config. I tend to be on the bleeding edge.

Well not really, I wish you had. I'd love to have a great looking copy of FFVII... but to be frank, all you offered was a few genaric links to shaders that prolly don't work, and a demo of a shader. =/
The rest of your 'breakdown' is a fix is comin'. Lemme tell you, Mako has been waiting a very very long time for that. Luckily IT IS coming, in the form of a new game.

It used to be a joke actually. Now it looks like it's happening... The joke used to be "God by the time you guys fix FFVII will be remade!" little did they know how close to the truth that joke was. =/

I love how you snip, Mako, I said PS1 compared to the UNMODDED PC version is is the best, but the MODDED PC version is best over all.

Now, I will be brief as i have more important things to do then deal with your ignorance.

you combine the two shaders, Aali's driver (if i recall) uses GLSL, which is a scripting language like C++ only for graphics, So (and Aali can correct me if i am wrong) it might need some tweaking, But thats about it.

Clearly you are not adept as i have no issues.


DLPB, you can keep arguing, But i've taken out the trash am i'm done here.

edit. Looks like I do. Reading that last main post of Mako's again though, it really does sound like she has some sort of venom for the projects and mods here. One wonders why someone completely opposed to the PC game and the mods is here on a site primarily about the PC game and the mods.  :o

I don't join a PSX ff7 forum and proceed to call the PSX game crap and ignorantly tell them that what they like is a waste of time because a "remake" is coming (which it isn't, it is just a crap money spinner, when oh when will people realise this).

When they actually hear anything about it. This is my problem with you, you are the very definition of ignorant. The game virtually has no info on it, and you already dismiss it as a cash grab. You have been wrong more times than I can count, in-fact on the chat room pretty much only Vgr acknowledges you.

Fact is, I'm glad you said sumthin' usually it's the dead opposite of whatever it is that you claim. That means I'm even more excited about this game then before!

But you did call the PSX version crap! and guess what, I know this comes as a shock, but this is a FF7 PSX community as well. I have never met a person more wrong then Vgr, you sir take the prize. Why don't you cast care on yourself and leave. :)
