are you using a custom barret model? if you are it seems like you messed up your battle.lgp. restore it to the original version

Seems that way. Perhaps it's just a temporary thing since the forums changed, but maybe he went the way of Koral and MrAdults. Who knows.

I hope not.. He is a god here. I worship him... *points to statue of the word "Aali"

ahm something wrong with my open gl everything works fine but tifa and cid's field and battle model are completely white...

my vid card is ati radeon

hey there just posting to say love the custom driver for FF8 although it ran fine in vista but for some reason in windows 7 it slows down alot maybe its cuz my comp is bout 4 years old :P but windows 7 seems to love the old games i was exspecting a problem with FF8 install but it installed no problem any ways can't wait for the next upgrade of this driver oh and plus all my game vids work no problem

Aali i am planing on picking up where i left of with the videos (hopefully) does your driver support h.264 yet? Or not?

hellbringer616 i just tried Aali's latest driver (0.7.3) with H264 video (and AAC audio) and it still doesnt appear to be supported,
the best results seem to still be either H263+, Xvid or Sorenson (i did alot of work on this previously trying 100's of different video and audio codecs and they where the best i could find with a decent size but if you want lossless without caring about size you could try a lossless uncompressed codec)
(also 1 weird thing i did find is that you can get a x264 video without audio to play if you use a 51 ratefactor (or quantizer) but since this makes the video so crappy there is really no point)

A while back I think he said this was one of the lowest priorities on his plate.  I wouldn't count on larger codec support until v1.0.1 gets here.

And I especially wouldn't count on it until Aali shows his face around here again :P

Just thought i'd point out that Aali's account is back. You may stop panicking now.

Aali. Your driver no longer likes using the "preserve aspect ratio" under Windows 7 with the lastest GeForce drivers..

Also. something you could look at to help use widescreeners suffering from nVidia's broken flat panel scaling..
In ePSXe they have a "use windowed mode in full screen fix" to fix the issue. Maybe you could look into it? I'm sick of looking at fat people in FF7 :(

hey i got a copy of FF7 original last night installed it updated to 1.02 and all installed opengl driver after running my FF7 config, i set the gl config to what i wanted and everything but found it wudn't play any movies untill i install truemotion codec other then that the driver works fine and as i said in my last post i'm on windows 7 and using FF8 with no problem with ur driver i even have the pause writing show up in the game i will get a pic of it to show ya :P

rite just wondering if anyone had any luck with getting the sound in vista/windows 7 to stop muting its self during certen parts of FF7 cuz i don't really want download a ton of mp3's if i don't have to

nVidia completely broke scaling in the latest driver. It was already problematic before, but now it's no good whatsoever. A fix in Aali's driver would probably need to be implemented in software, but I don't know how feasible that is for a driver that renders everything in opengl.

Oh i know it's busted. it's been more then just the latest though haha.

But i was using ePSXe as an example for petes OGL2 plugin. until then, i play in a window  :(

Hey Aali, I just had an idea, not sure if it has been suggested before or if it is possible.

There are a lot of places in ff7 where there is a black bar at the bottom of the screen, eg in towns / field and battles (battles use a bit of the black area when you open magic menus, but not all).
But then places like menus and world maps are fullscreen.
So you can never have a truly fullscreen ff7.

Is it possible to make everything full screen? Zooming in slightly and keeping the aspect ratio, in certain instances?
Like for example zooming in at the end of a battle swirl, then returning to to normal when the battle finishes?

Since most people use widescreen monitors / laptops / tv's these days, I think this would be a nice enhancement without stretching, and give true fullscreen.
