Sorry about the new topic but all other posts are dead...
I just installed Nero's custom start screen and put the buster text in the menu_us.lgp file and moved the picture to my textures folder, I still have a start screen but I get a Glitch error "missing external textures: buster_00.png,  I was just wondering if anyone could help, I have aali's custom driver version 0.7.8.b

i think i already say for you. put disable_popup  command in ff7_opengl

no it is not that the pop up is bothering me, it is that the image file is not being replaced with the new .png file sorry I should have been more clear.

i think you need use aali's custom graphics driver.

after you make what nero say to can use custom start menu screen.

I have done everything Nero says but I am still seeing just the regular ol start screen any solutions?

i don't know if will help you but the png is on textures folder and in menu_us is the buster.TEX (just TEX and not png) i use aali's custom graphics driver and for extract menu_us i don't used lgp tools (i think i don't used for this file) i'm used highwind.

Same here I used highwind to extract and create the lgp, I moved the buster text into menu.igp then moved the .png into the textures folder. is there anything im missing

Since you're using 0.7.8b already, why not make use of a mod path instead? Create a new folder in mods/, create a "menu" folder in that one and move your buster_00.png there. Now all you have to do is change mod_path in the .cfg file to point to your newly created folder in mods/ and it should work. No messing about with LGP archives required.

still not changing I set the mods directory to mods\*new file*\menu no errors given but no changes either i everything right?

Hmm... I guess i'm having a similar problem, can someone tell me if there exists a tutorial for placing a new background for the start screen? I know how to change using the LGP tool but the format of the img is  .tex and the .png file i'm using doesn't works.... help anybody? xD
