Which shader are you using? And are you using reshade framework? These look outstanding.

Thanx. I think it was called 4xAA or something like that. Then it's reshade framework with several different effects on.

Some more pictures. Same ReShade setting, better shader with Retroarch.
Looks horrible zoomed in, does imgur compress pictures?

They used to for free accounts, but they stopped doing that about a year ago, when they eliminated pro accounts.

Ok. I think it is the debanding noise that somehow gets more visable in pictures.

I remade the ReShade config together with another shader SimoneT at ngemu.com made. It is trying to look like Waifu2x, wich is probably impossible. But it is at least better than my previous settings. Just wanted to show it.

To be frank, that looks atrocious. It's completely warped the picture to the point of being totally plastic and artificial looking.  Removing blockiness has to have a balance.

Thats alright. I have never seen any filter that makes these old games look good. But I think this is better thsn the originals.

Colourfullness and Vibrance shaders will help with colour but before touching them try to achieve your desired result with the Tonemap shader. HDR shader will enhance whites and blacks. MXAO is good when it works but it's subtle and resource heavy. Ambient Light can be very effective but requires a lot of tweaking on a case by case basis and is very resource heavy. All depth of field effects except SimpleDOF are resource heavy and tricky to configure. There's a bunch of other filters and effects but many have limited use in live gaming, they're more appropriate for screenshots or just better served by other shaders. Then there's effects like Lumasharpen and Chromatic Aberration which can look great or awful depending on game and configuration.
