Has anyone found a more specific answer to this problem.  I updated my drivers to 13.5 beta 2 but the shaders are still not working.  This is actually a real pain as I am trying to port shaders for this game and can't tell if they are working or not due to this stupid error.

"main.vert" and "main.frag" inside the nolight-folder will work, the specified postprocessing also work.
"yuv.frag" is not used by my system, I can say nothing.

Everything else is (normaly) not supported by Aalis driver.

With people seeming to take a 360 stance on the issue of a ff7 remake recently, I think we may have reached the point where Square will want the credit, and our cash, for any big graphic improvements that come along.

People here may be able to do some new things with the releases from last year and now steam's, but SE seems savvy as ever lately and I think they may be quietly discouraging anyone from beating them to the punch on the black bar issue etc...

But, were it me in the suit and tie over there, I think I would do the same. I have been shocked and amazed at their consistent reluctance to engage with the disproportionally large group of "fanboys" for this particular game.

Not working even with 13.5 beta. I had it installed to begin with and turning on shaders still causes the red triangles on a black screen. I have a crossfire setup, but it's the same regardless of whether it is on or off. I've uninstalled and reinstalled FF7 twice and force updated the CCC again just to be sure. Updating to the new driver did not fix the problem for me.

Turn off shaders and the game runs fine. Still looks better, but it's seriously annoying to have gone through all the time and trouble of downloading and installing all this just to have a key feature crap out because of some driver issue.

I blame AMD for this, but I am hoping for a fix or work around soon that doesn't involve rolling back my driver. It's not worth it just for FF7 as I've got a lot of other games that would have issues if I did that.

Until then I'll just have to make due without shaders. It's not so horribly awful as it still looks much better than it did.

On another note, it doesn't work with Tridef anymore. That's just a minor thing and not really an issue as the tradeoff of much nicer visuals over stereoscopic 3D is well worth it. Just an observation. The Steam version worked and it was kind of cool. Don't get me wrong, I'm not expecting a fix for this. Just noting that modding the game makes it incompatible with stereoscopic for the benefit of anyone who might be considering modding it who has been playing that way. It's not a huge loss with this game. It only works on 3D rendered objects, so it looked a bit weird outside of the battle scenes anyway.

The Catalyst 13.5Beta2 contains the display driver version 12.102.3.0 from April-16-2013.
You can determine your version by using Device Manager.
Do you have a different version, the 13.5 the previous version has not overwritten.
In this case, please uninstall the display driver separately before you install the 13.5 again.

I do not think that will get better with time.
I think the shader interface has been revised and the shader we use are simply too old :(

got it working now.  Just had to completely remove my drivers first.  Thanks

Very sorry if this is the wrong area to post this but whilst this has fixed my FF7 issue, I now have issues in other games where my "Display Driver stops working". Obviously if this is a known issue or the wrong area, please point me to somewhere more appropriate. If there's any additional info needed, just let me know!

New Catalyst version 13.8beta works with Aali's driver and shaders! Maybe they actually listened to the people about backwards compatibility!
I stole this thread so I'm allowing myself to double post, but it really isn't proper.
