Good to know I didn't need to do anything with the mounted ISO. Also, it seems like I'm doing the installs right. I just need to make sure I'm keeping track of which ones error-out and then uninstall/reinstall them. I'm very grateful for your attentive replies.
You don't need to keep track of download errors if the download bar shows "Calculating/Installing" and the window-pane at the right says it installed in blue text. At that point it should be in your Library tab and ready to click the Activate button. Errors "might" happen with a download if Google Drive has exceeded its bandwidth limit for that day, but it will just continue to download from MEGA and install correctly.
Well, I realized I was using the Bootleg game converter instead of the 7H one, but uninstalling (and removing all registry keys), reinstalling fresh, and using the correct game converter didn't help, assuming there's any difference at all.

Edit: Testing has revealed that it's caused by the Red Werewolf, Gameplay - Difficulty and Story, and Menu Overhaul mods all cause this bug. What do they have in common?
Yes, they are different. The Bootleg converter runs off an older Aali's Driver and requires a different file/folder structure to get started. The 7H converter is required for this to work properly.
Your GPU is fine. Sometimes people neglect the warning given about GPU vRAM and Integrated Graphics, so I wanted to make sure.
Settings are okay. I was mainly looking for Texture Cache (leave unchecked) and Texture Memory. 1024 works great for me FYI.
With Red Werewolf, did you click on Configure and select the option that corresponds with what you selected in Gameplay - Difficulty and Story? The drop-down menus are identical so that the flevel/scene work with Red Werewolf correctly. Having different options selected will not work; however, I did not put together those patches nor test them all in a full playthrough. 32 different difficulty and story mods are too much for one person to test. It could be that Wolfman and cmh175 didn't patch them correctly.
A likely naive question, but I've got the catalog open but I can't figure out what each mod does. They have like... broad descriptions, but not actual information. There's a link to read more on each mod, but it just goes to this topic.
I don't think broad is the right word you're looking forward. The descriptions are vague because the tool wasn't built to give long descriptions. Once you download each mod category, some that need it have a Readme button in the Library tab. All mods will have a Configure button in the Active Mods tab after you Activate them, and in that window each selection is labeled by its author so that you have some basis for who made it and do your own forum search. There will also be a better description of what the mod is doing and a preview image for models, textures, and movies.
I am interested to see if we can fix the text issue as well since I am suffering from it, too and I never used other bootloaders but I do have a Nvidia card installed.
EDIT: I actually removed Red Werewolf and made sure my load order was correct and that fixed it. It changed the names of my spells as well, thunder -> bolt if that makes a difference.
Now if I can just get the music to play and the Menu Overhaul to download without errors. I'm going to DL and activate Music and Sound which I'm guessing will fix the first problem.
EDIT 2: I see on some of the youtube vids that the intro movie includes some of the tech demo footage and there are some modded files here:

Do I just replace them in the movies folder with what is there?
Finally, my attempt to download Menu Overhaul results in System.ComponentModel.AsyncCompletedEventArgs Error.
I'll need to test the Red Werewolf some more to see if I can replicate the texture issue. My textures were fine when I selected the corresponding difficulty and story option under the Configure button, but this was a couple months ago in October when it was first released. There have been no reports of it until now.
Music will not play if you haven't downloaded the Media - Music and Sound mod category and selected an option. That is because the vanilla game runs its music from a different folder location and music format than what Aali's Driver v0.8.1b is set for. If you want to manually install your own music, just drop them into the [gamedir]\music\vgmstream folder. They must be in .ogg format to play.
If MO is in your Library tab, it's downloaded and installed correctly. Ignore download errors unless it never downloads and installs in the first place, which I assume isn't the case when you're saying that you want to uninstall/reinstall until it gives no errors.
Movies go into the [gamedir]\data\movies folder. I would back up the originals before doing any manual installs.
The problem is that the MO battle menu needs its external textures. The textures have an different layout and do not work with the vanilla textures.
This is the 7H catalog, so of course it comes with the textures. For those textures to work, he needs make sure his Workshop -> Settings -> Aali Modpath: is pointing to [gamedir]\mods\Textures and that that folder actually exists. It should exist if FF7_GameConverter_7H.exe was used.
