I've tried the image you provide and a image of the actual original unmodified and it is always the same thing.

Finds it and sets it, no confirmation or choices given like the first ever time I used it and I've had two fresh installs of windows in that time frame.

I didn't know until today that there was a FFVII Mod loader. That makes it somewhat an improvement over Bootleg since you don't have to uninstall the game and reinstall it fresh if you want to change the settings.

Though, trying to play the game with FH, the game lags considerably and I never had that problem when playing the game normally as the regular Steam version, or using Bootleg since the OpenGL Configuration options on there seem to adjust the settings a bit more better than what FH can do, cuz I literally tried every method to try to get the game to run at a smooth framerate but no dice.

Mainly I just want to be able to play New Threat but its been a hassle for me this evening because the game is running sluggishly where it runs normal on Bootleg, granted I had to install Bootleg THEN NT afterwords.

Even if I don't have any texture mods active it still runs slow. How can I go about trying to play using FH but still be able to have it run as good as if I was playing with Bootleg, cuz I know that you can't use both and can only use one or the other.

Which mods do you have active? It is not even always the larger mods that make things run slowly, it can depend on how many files the mod changes (so field model changes are bad because a single field model can be 30+ files!).

I will be doing some testing to try and speed things up.

Tell us your computer specs and post the APP.log.

I don't run into slow or sluggish gameplay at all, but I do have a fairly modern computer and laptop. The only difference is the initial loading of the game, which can take upwards of 10 seconds to start with all mod categories activated. Sometimes the black loading screen won't advance because postprocessing failed to initialize. There is a message given for this, but it appears behind the game window where it can't be seen. Hitting Enter will give your OK to it, followed by a beep sound and the game starting.

I have uploaded a new version v1.44 which will make some things quicker. For me it especially speeds up loading .PNG textures out of archives, so the world map mod loads far quicker. It did not speed up field model loading (although that was already quite quick for me) so there may still be speed problems for some people, we will have to see.

I would only run NT itself and nothing else, except maybe the Tweaks and Cheats mod just so I have use of the Skip Cutscenes. Plus no music seems to play either even though I would also use the Music and Sounds mod as well but looking in the VGMStreams folder, there isn't anything there so if I was playing the game normally using the Mod Loader, no music plays.

Also checked the FPS for when I play the game minus NT and just the Tweaks mod, it would stay at 20FPS but FMV scenes like the intro plays normal speed but when the game starts, it dips down to 12FPS. If I was playing the game on Steam normally, my FPS would remain at its normal rate.

Sometimes when I use Vsync within the loader when I start the game, it would give me the message "GLITCH: Unable to turn on Vsync." Even figured that using RadeonPro and try to adjust it so I can have it tweaked to run normally didn't work though helped me see how much FPS I was running.

Sorry dude I would hate to say this but that is a pretty basic and bare bones laptop there and hence while it'll be struggling. Lowering the internal resolution will help a bit but the loading of certain mods with many files will be adding to your slow down (NT uses a whole set of new field models). The folders will always be empty as 7H loads the mods into memory in real time when you start FF7 through it and hence why you can swap mods as you please without a fresh install like bootleg. With only 3.9GB of memory with at least 2GB going to windows, you then have whatever the machine decides to give to your graphics card (assuming you followed the instructions then 1GB) as it is shared memory and probably DDR2 which leaves roughly 900mb left for 7H to load everything into memory :/

The reason you wouldn't of seen these issues with bootleg is that nothing is loaded into memory leaving you some headroom. Might be worth choosing a lower memory options in the openGL driver configuration of 7H.

Actually I was able to get it to run normally, turns out I had to do what Kaldarasha said and lower the internal resolution to 1024x768 and now the game runs normally.

But yeah, I know my laptop is pretty basic. Was given as a graduation gift from high school for college, but it serves me well. If I can play Skyrim with some tweaks and at medium setting, then I don't mind.

Rather get a better laptop suited for gaming but can't really do that now.

Just an FYI, the field models for the NT mod aren't included in the 7H Catalog. They will be a separate option in the Field Models category for the next update.

A lot of this is not correct. Windows does not use 2GB for itself (that is far too high!), and 7H does not load all the mods into memory (if it did, you would never be able to use the 6GB+ mods on machines with 4GB of RAM, but you can absolutely fine). 7H will increase memory usage a bit compared to bootleg because it caches some files in memory but it absolutely does not load all of them in. e.g, If you active the world map textures mod, those files are not loaded until you go to the world map.

Hey EQ2Alyza,

Just wanted to report I am getting a crash when getting the choco/mog materia, it happens just as they finish their dance and make that squark they make. It only happens if I have the music and sound fx mod turned on, otherwise it doesn't crash

There's an oddity with the way this scene's script has been set up, where it checks if certain music is playing to determine when to start and stop the dance sequence. Thing is, music mods (like FF7Music) confuse it so the dance won't play at all if using FF7Music and it's likely causing a crash with whatever process is being used to run music through 7H.

I'm guessing it's the check in Group 9: Dancer, Script 1; either line 2 or line 12. I was looking at this before, thinking the chocobo dance was broken on PC, but when I turned FF7Music off it performed as intended. It first checks to see if music is playing, then runs scripts from the chocobos to make them stop and stand-still (to set-up the dance). There's then two return functions that it shouldn't be able to skip, but it does somehow. There might be something missing from the editor here.

FF7Music is no longer used, so it can't be that. All music files are .ogg format used by Aali's 0.8.1b driver.

It is definitely at the end of dance that it crashes with the music and sounds mod.

Funny thing is, if i deactivate music and sounds I then have no in game music so when i choose "wark" it skips the dance, makes a squirrel and gives me the choco/mog

I did save a crash dump if you want it?

Don't just deactivate the Music and Sounds category. There is an option for No Change in it. Choose that and see if it plays through. Then test it with each music option and let us know which crash and which, if any, don't crash. If we can narrow it down to just specific music options, then we can figure out which file to try and fix.

OK i found a save close enough and tested them all and they all cause it to crash apart from no change as no audio plays with that option anyway so it skips the dance and just gives the choco/mog materia

ok now I am even more lost, if i sleep at an Inn after the sleeping sound plays it crashes to the desktop. If i choose no change so I have no sound it will just flash the screen and im all rested as it doesn't wait to see if the sound has finished playing.

But it basically means I can't use an Inn if I'm using the music and effects mod?

ok I done good old fashion trial by elimination and the only thing I could work out could be the cause was the 7th Heaven updates by IROS himself as that is the only thing I had changed.

It started happening with 1.43 i believe so i reverted back to my 1.40 download and guess what, no crash when getting the choco/mog materia with any of the music mods now and no crash when using an Inn (which would of lead to crashes at story moments as well)

Question. Are mods that you download through 7th Heaven are the only ones compatible with it? I turned the mods I downloaded that was required from Bootleg a long time ago, into iro files (like Facepalmer), but it doesn't seem to be changing anything in game. Much of the field stuff still looks blurry at some spots. It's not showing any errors, so I don't get it.
