[FF7] Game Crashes when walking into world map

Ok so my problem is that the game crashes leaving midgar for the first time. I want to exit to the main map but as soon as i have my party set and such, it exits.

I'm running on XP with everything patched up, and I'm using the hands patch.


I've searched the forums for an answer, but couldn't find any.

To save space, I'd also like to ask a question. My friend has a problem with the movies. They don't play. I've looked for ways to help, but everytime he tries installing the truemotion video codec, it doesn't install. How can I fix this for him?

Compatibility mode? ...

As for your second question... I needed to uninstall some of the codecs to install TM2.0 correctly (you can install them right after installing this one)... I'm not saying it's a must... But it helped...

I figured out the problem.


It was the hand patch not working properly for the world models.


I just removed the handpatch, though I have to restart my game now.


Oh well, its not like I was very far anyway.
