The text file above and what you downloaded IS a converted english exe.

Unfortunately yes...  the foreign games will have to work with the english alphabet for the NAMES of characters.  This probably won't be THAT big an issue though?

So my file is not usable for you...

sorry for the disturbance
I will check it.  Place it back here.

You have to make sure the actual german 1.02 text is placed on the correct line corresponding to the English 1.02 text from the file I uploaded.  It has to be EXACT to the german 1.02 text.  Not your own choices in otherwords.

If you have done that, then upload the file.

I have to make some corrections.

But your text is not quite clear to me.
You wrote

but inside the exe it is

Which is correct?
edit.

Board isn't there.  Must be an oversight.  I will have to get Luksy on that.  Translate it here and leave it out of the ff7 txt file.

OFF BOARD

< Looks like I accidentally added it to the same line.

Leave board out for now.  Just tell me what it is in German and I will sort it.

We may be okay.  BOARD is still BOARD in the german exe... it may be that it is unused. Ignore it.

No.  The rest of the document is 100% rightDo not alter it.   Stick to it exactly. Or there will be issues.

The dialogue above was a mistake by the original designers (there really is a Chocobo named K because of it).   At the end you can name the chocobo's to German names if you wish.  For now I need it exact to the German game.

What A D at offset $ 5216f8?
I believe that are abbreviations that are found in a store.
But what do they mean? A = Armor? D =???
In what store that is used?

I'm confused ???

In store yes A and D are used.  1 letter each.  It is a certain menu.

use the first letter for the german for attack and defence.

Ideally you should be playing the game... and checking these too.

I would really like to do, but with the German version, I can not.
Other than that I do not know how to integrate the German text into English FF7.exe.
Or have I misunderstood something here?

I am doing the converting.  All you are doing is replacing the english in the 0_ff7.txt file with german.  That's all.

Are you going through it line by line and updating it EXACT to how the german is in the german game?  You will either need game open OR a hex editor to do it.   The A and D for example are Attack Defend.

Without hex knowledge and the game open, your chances of being able to do this properly are slim to none.,

Upload what you have done so far and I will check.

Well, I do know how to use a HEX Editor and I do own a German FF7 PC and I understand what you want so I'll take a look into it if I have time.
But I cannot make any promise that I will finish it in any given time frame or at all.

So I'm probably not the right person to plan with to get a result soon. Yes, I'd like to see it but I cannot promise I'll find the motivation for it. Sorry.

If someone is willing to do it, I'd consider 1 week reasonable.  It would take me around 2 hours maximum if I knew both languages.

I am going almost done.

The hex editor is not the problem.
Problems cause me such terms such as
KANA
YEN
NUMPADEQUALS
AT
KANJI
AX
These terms are also available in German FF7.exe, but where are they used? How should I translate that?

OK here's what I've done.
Rumbah, Please read and correct that.
I pray that everything is correct :-\

NUMPADEQUALS

KANJI

A lot of these are not ever really seen... Kanji and Yen are japanese terms anyway.

Numpadequals is the equals sign on your comp in numpad area.  What do you call number pad and what do you call "equals"

This character =

This is for setting the key configuration.

If you use hex editor, and my excel document you should be able to locate the german area for the same names and see what they called it.

Check german exe at 00591A70

Looks to me like a lot stayed English named anyway, so for now set them to the exact ones here.
