FF7: German to English. How is it possible?

Hi.
I want the english Version for pc. (i only have the psx version in eng).
I want to play all the very good patches here.

Can anyone tell me how its possible to patch the german version to a english version?
I think the important files are only on the install cd. But what files are really important for that?

There aresome files in the data foldercalled "*_gm.lgp" or "*-ge.lgp" or g*.
Try to rename them like this:
*_gm.lgp to *_us.lgp
*-ge.lgp to *-us.lgp
g*... (for example gchocobo.lgp) to (for example chocobo.lgp)
Some people say this works

I have no idea how that would work. Wouldn't the file need like an English reference? I just don't think it's that easy.

But maybe I am wrong. I'd be greatly upstaged and astounded if someone tells me that works, though.
 
ok. when i am at home i will test it.
is then the whole dialogue in english? because in my opinion the german translation sucks (but on psx more than on pc, but english is better. on both systems) ;)
 
When I want the whole Game in english? Then I need the files they i have renamed from the original english version or?

To play the entire game in English, you will need to purchase the English version.

You may be able to get some of the patches here to work with a non-English version by renaming some files, like people are suggesting.
