GeForce FX 5900 Ultra with latest nvidia drivers
P4 3.2 GHz
1gb memory
win xp
SB Audigy 2

please help :(

okay i got it running but i can't see anything but i can here it and start a new game but still can't see anything :(

Maybe you should try compatibility mode in winxp.

Can you find out the file "Tm20dec.ax" in your pc?

yeah i tried compatability mode as well and that doesn't seem to work period just get a black screen and no audio..i'll try to find that file

Did you check "NVIDIA" and "TNT" in FF7config 1.02? The two options conflict with Detonator's (or new ForceWare's) "dx7 8-bit paletted textures support", so you don't have to check the two options.

"Tm20dec.ax" is the file needed for playing AVI movies in FF7pc.

yeah ok i have that file and yeah ui unchecked the nvida stuf fand nothing gets it to work i can hear it jstu can't see it :(

So you can enter the "new game/continue" menu and start a new game but didn't get any graphics. Isn't it?

yeah it doens't show anything jsut a black screen but i can select new game and stuff but jstu can't see it

no i actually own the real thing form when it first came out imagine taht someone actually buying something :O lol it's original not a copy or downloaded :P

Brando, what video renderer are you running the game in? There's software and D3d mode. Generally, if you can't run the game in D3d, then it should most likely run in software. If it runs in neither, it's probably some weird directx problem.

Probably isn't relevant, but what version of directx do you have?

And what video card drivers do you have? Detonator? What's the exact version? Some versions that have been released by nvidia seem to cause screw-ups with ff7.

dx 9.0b
drivers...5.2.1.6  i dunnow aths its' calle di think nvidisas site says forceware release 50

OMFG lol it is working but its' weird... i can't see movies so i assumed it wasn't working so i alt tab out of it and my friend msg me on msn so I forgot i lef tit running so i clicked back into it and i could se ethe main menu screen so i started a new game but couldn't see the movie adn when it finally switches oto in game i couldn't see it eaitehr but i alt tabbed back out and clicked in again and i can see it now? anyone explain.. although the textures a look really bad still so any help would be appreciated

Do you have the TNT patch intalled?

You should try running it in Softwaremode, without any of the TNTpatch installed. Reinstall the game, and try it that way first. Only, after it works in Softwaremode, should you try to run it in Hardwaremode and the TNTpatch.

The TNT patch can cause problems with the black screen, if you don't load it correctly.

What works is:
Just use the FF7config from the TNT patch.
Make sure the Test for 8bit pallet says Pass.
Select the Direct3d hardware mode.
Don't check any of the Riva options.
Don't use the FF7.exe from the TNT patch.

Alternate method:
Only if the 8bit pallet says Fail, should you use the FF7.exe from the TNT patch. There is a way to make it say Fail with Rivatuner. If you disable the 8bit pallet with Rivatuner, then you check the Riva TNT box, and use the whole TNTpatch. This used to be the only way to get hardware mode to work...but Nvidia fix their 8bit pallet.....so doing it this way is no longer done. Plus, Rivatuner only disables 8bit pllet on newer drivers, if the guy who writes Rivatuner updated it.....I doubt it's been updated. Rivatuner will tell you if it can't find the database for the current driver, if it says that...most likely it won't be able to disable the 8bit pallet.

It used to be:
disable 8 bit pallet with Rivatuner (I won't bother telling you how...but the option is buried in Rivatuner.)
Install the TNT patch. Both FF7.exe, and FF7config.exe.
Select hardware mode, and check the Nvidia option boxes....for TNT or the other one (can't exactly remember how the boxes are labeled...but you can't miss them).

ok i got it weorking with direct3d nvidia isn't checked but teh movies i still can't see them and they tak ea long time to load? but i can see the in game gfx fine

update ok teh main menu looked fine but then after the train pulls in the screen was black and had some garbage at the bottom i took a screen cap i fu wanna see it :( i'm never gonna get this working stupid game! lol
