Torrent, then when that began to take awhile (bottom 50%) I went to individually dling them.  I then replaced the files in the torrent so it would be complete so I could seed (also to check I had everything).

sorry if this has been previously addressed, but i noticed that the remix installer is sort of redundantly listed (the full .exe., a 4-part archive, and a 13-part archive); do i need to download all of this? or can i just pick one of the above?

The Remix, or any other duplicate archives, only need one of them. Either the standalone, the 4-parts one OR the 13-parts one.

Are you saying re-dl everything just for good measure?  Thanks!  So I should just wait for this torrent to complete just to be sure I have all the right files?

Also this one is only 15 gigs where the other was 19... Does it contain everything I will need?

Yep, everything is there and it's all the current versions of the mods.
 
Okay, dled that (rather quickly).  It didn't have bootleg so I got that from the main page.  Still same error message, Access Denied  :'( .
 
It was still worth the shot. Now we can rule out the mods and strictly focus on it being your computer setup.

Are any internet browsers open while you are attempting to install?

I have never done this before, but maybe you can try booting to Safe Mode and installing.
 
Negative, and I did try in all versions of safe mode.  Also, previously I had browser windows open but I won't anymore.  Although, I don't think that is(/was) the problem because the Access Denied error comes in the very beginning when it checks the game folder.

Hi, I was recently about to begin playing FFVII once again, but I decided to take a look and see if this awesome mod pack was still being updated before I installed(the last time I updated/played was bootleg .36).

I was going to just install .39 then overlay whiteraven's revised models somehow but when i read you were working on .40 I figured you might add these yourself. I decided to wait because i would like to see what other goodies you've added in.

I apologize for replying in the thread, but I would love to test this and I dont have enough posts to PM. I could take screenshots of my settings and let you know if all the settings get installed right and what if any bugs/missing textures i encounter in my playthrough.

Also quick question, is that the complete list of new necessary mods a few posts back?

Edit:the nightmare files/flevel links are inactive now, i think because his mod is updated to 1.01

Anyone else testing the 040 release with the 2012 version of FF7?

I tried running Bootleg, and it says that it can't find FF7.exe.

Is there anything that I am missing?
 
Did you set the correct GAME DIRECTORY in BFE?
The 2012 release may use different registry locations to store the path info.

Does anyone know the 2012 FF7 registry info?
 
Yeah the GAME directory is set correctly. I'll try and look for the registry keys. I'm on the Pit IRC channel as well.
 
Just to clarify some things,  ;D I'm going to make updates and fixes on some of my model revisions, will they still work with bootleg 0.40 if I make those updates after the new bootleg is released?
 
The nightmare update to 1.01 was necessary because there were  a few script bugs that had to be fixed
theoretically you can still install 1.00 and then just paste 1.01 over it after bootleg

I've incorporated support for Nightmare 1.01.  It will even install the fat flevel if the file is present.

whiteRaven,
Bootleg will install any models you place in the BootlegCustomModels folder.
Otherwise, I would need to recompile bootleg.exe with the updated models.

I love the bootleg app, made re-modding my FF7 files so much easier!  One quick question though, I'm having some trouble with the FMVs.  I believe the option I selected was bootleg + Grimmy or something like that, and all my FMVs have audio problems.  The background music continues to play, but FMV specific music and sound effects either don't play or, when they do, are way out of sync with the videos themselves.  What can I do to fix this?  An example of an audio sync problem is the intro FMV, the instrumental beat that normally plays when the FF7 logo appears plays while cloud is shown ontop of the train, and his line "my name is cloud.  Soldier 1st class." Plays 5 - 10 seconds after the text appears on-screen, then partially plays again at the end of the video.
