Hello i was wondering if anyone would know why everything runs fine until 5-10 min pass and then the game starts slowing down (laggy, choppy). Then after about another 5min of it being all laggy it just freezes and i have to alt + f4 out of it.

My Specs are
AMD Athlon XP 3000+
1.5gb of ram
Nvidia Geforce 7800 Gs

I have the 1.02 installed with the high resolution pack and the npc reconstruction mods. Thanks for any help.

It's a problem with the newest Nvidia drivers. You'll have to downgrade the drivers to the 90 series if you want to play it normally.

In my experience, anything above or equal to the 169.21 drivers will cause this problem. I haven't tested 163.75 though, which is the only other WHQL driver newer than the 90 series.

Hmm strange, dunno if i want to downgrade just to play tho  :-(. Thanks for the reply tho.

Edit: Eh guess ill try it with the 163.75 firmware, ill let u know how it goes.

Edit: Heh 40min and no slowdowns so far, guess that worked, Thanks a bunch.

Nice to know that the 163.75 driver works fine. Makes me wonder what the hell Nvidia did in the newest release to make this crappy bug show itself. The newest betas aren't helping either, I guess they aren't aware of the mess they did yet. Shows how competent the testers are.

Anyways, glad I could help.

Does this effect other games as well or just FF7?
It may effect applications that use older DirectX versions as well. I can't confirm this though, it's just a theory.
