Hello, here's an other topic of a guy having crash issues with FF7

A few days ago i installed the game and after 2 hours of searching i made it work.

But yesterday, the game started to crash on start up -_-

I am running Windows Seven (Us version) with FF7 (normal US version) along with the Remix patch 2.5.1

I installed FF7,then the 1.02 patch (US one), then the Remix patch.

I also installed Ffdshow with Truemotion disabled and the Raw video codec on "all RGB", I tried to install various codec pack, Truemotion only etc etc...

But the game won't start -_-

So i'm posting after 3 hours of testing and searching on this forum xD

Thank you for your answers

EDIT: Here's my App.log file ^^ (Thank you for your answer):

post your app log first and wait for anyone here to get back to you. but you don't need the remix patch. i don't know if it's caused any problems but my advice would be uninstall ff7 (delete the patches you moved into the folder as well and remember to make a backup of your game) and reinstall. add the 1.02 patch and then aali's custom driver 0.7.5b. the newest is 0.7.7b however there are multiple bugs that will crash your game. so for a fix to those, .5 works fine 99% of the time (that i've seen). then if you consider the other patches/fixes/mods important, i suggest a manual install and test to see what caused the problem.

again do this after you post the app log and get a response because it may be a total waste of time if it ends up being something as simple as "you didn't check that one box"

I modified my post addind the App.log found in the Ficedula directory (the one in the main directory is empty)

Thank you for your quick answers =D

The reason it proberly isnt working is because Aali's driver isnt loading (your app.log shows this) reinstall 0.7.3 of aali's driver (thats the one that comes with the remix patch 2.5.1), also since your using win7 make sure you disable UAC first before installing Aali's driver since that can cause problems.

Make sure you have User Account Control turned off before you run FF7OpenGL.reg, as it tends to not let it work.

In fact i reinstalled everything patch after patch and it worked oO

I did'nt change much to my installation just FF7 + 1.02 + Remix patch

Kinda weird..

But at least i finished the first cd \o/

Thanks for your help even though the problem is not really "solved" for others looking at this topic ;)

yes i got it going other night was a little bit of hassle to say the least.

notes before installing:
·   you have to choose maximum installation of the game if you are about to apply mods
·   don't install DirectX and Directshow components that the installation program offers (use latest DirectX)

get the microsoft direct x update, have k-lite mega codec pack, duck.exe truemotion codec, the 1.02 patch, chocobo patch,

==================================================================================================================
TrueMotion codec

Recommended setup to clean your codec mess and make FF7 use this filter:
0.   Have latest DirectX and latest drivers for your graphic adapter installed
1.   Download and install the latest K-lite codec pack (google yourself)
-   the installation program will prompt you to remove all installed codecs or corrupted entries...answer yes to do it automatically.
-   it's recommended to install default profile of the codec pack
2.   Install duck.exe (TrueMotion codec)
3.   Now run ffdshow video decoder configuration via Start->Programs->K-lite codec pack->Configuration->ffdshow->video decoder configuration and disable TrueMotion handling.

This should solve all codec problems you may come across with FF7.
