Sorry guys but...

I just bought, downloaded and installed a Steam version of final fantasy (it's a 1.09 version)

The problem occurs right at the start with the game converter. What happens is, the game converter says that it has aplayed the 1.02 patch but the game itself doesn't get updated. Because of that, the FF7 config won't work and, because of that, BFE and bootleg won't work either.

I've searched the whole internet (ok not whole but did a search) and couldn't find a manual update to 1.02 version.

Am I missing something? Or Am I just dumb? (the game is installed on a second partion of the disc so I don't think that's the problem. Plus, I mounted the blank ISO when running the game converter)

Any help is apreciated

Please post the FF7_GC.log.

The update to 1.02 is for the old or converted game, not for the Steam version.
The GameConverter is installed this already, you do not need to worry about that.
It must have run something else wrong ...

Oh sorry completely forgot to put the gc log
I've tried again today (reinstalled the game from scratch) but still nothing.

Here's the log

EDIT
So after all that I tried running FF7 confing to see what happened and it crashed immediately
I went to my pc and discovered that the Nvd3d9wrap.dll was the cause of the crash. Problem is, that dll is related to my graphics cards (it is a nvidia geforce card) and the only way to replace it was by running the pc in safe mode. But, even after I replaced the dll with another working one, and after reeboting the pc, the system replaces the file I put in with the original file, thus, rendering the ff7 config impossible to run. I have no idea if this is related to the problem or not, but I thought I should post it anyway.

I can see no error in the log, seems to have everything working.

While the GC is working the FF7Config appeared, right?

Just try FF7Config to start with admin rights.
If this works, you have to also start FF7.exe with admin rights.

Otherwise, I see the problem is actually in the drivers (graphics or sound) ...

Oh, I see now, you can (if you want) also use the Spanish version... ;D

Thank you for the help!
Seems the problem I had is very common on nvidia cards. If you anyone experience the same Nvd3d9wrap.dll error all that needs to be done is to go to where it is located and cut the file to any place (like the desktop). When you are done playing just put in again (to be on the safe side).

Thanks for the big help Kompass63 :)

I've done nothing, the error you have found alone, exellent!

I would still like to try to do something against this Nvd3d9wrap.dll installed in the GC.

Is there a version of the Nvd3d9wrap.dll that works and that could be crossing copy without thereby cause other disorders?
And would this survive a reboot?

Well actually... I've read (somewhere on the internet of course) that older versions of the dll seem to have less compatibility problems and I found out that actually, by replacing the dll with an older version, even after reboot, it stays. What lead me to believe that, after rebooting, the system would automatically replace the file with the original one, was because I was replacing the file located in my "C:\Program Files\NVIDIA Corporation\coprocmanager" instead of the C:\Program Files (x86)\NVIDIA Corporation\coprocmanager (notice the "x86"). That was the dll that was making the program unworkable.

For me, the solution was to take out the dll to another folder (it's sitting in the desktop) but, as I stated, it seems that replacing the file with an older version might work as well, though; I have no idea what version might actually work.

I get an error whole time i try to setup this.

I'm using steams version. And I have used old version before where you did do everything manually. So I'm no noob.

Might be something i missed thou, but anyway.
http://prntscr.com/32y109

And i have activated administrative mode on both program and bootleg.

Any tip?

I really don't know what happens. But it extracts everything now. Dont know if it is suppose to like copy some file to the temp map or something. anyway. Its still going.. I will get an update if it starts and so.

Well i figured out that this error http://prntscr.com/32zoqm is when space is low. (How i know this is that i cleared out even more space to the hard drive then it worked. But i doubt the mod needs more than 20 GB... Hum).
http://prntscr.com/32zy0w  My space on the HDD. (With the mods on it.)

And I got everything to install now without any errors. But yeah I'm impatiens so I guess I have to read instructions 1 more time.

This time its the battle menu that's weird, numbers go on top of each other and so on. And when I tried to change the overlay ingame the game crashed. But I read something about 9999 break could effect this. I have to check this out.
Seems its harder now than before. Because now I don't know what I could have done wrong.

It gives you the error during Bootleg when it's compiling the lgp files, and then you crash when it's trying to access an lgp file, so it's not installing everything. I am pretty sure it's because you don't have enough space on your hard drive for the temp files extraction.

Try freeing up some more space, perhaps 30GB? and go again.

I was just about to write I got everything setup and working. And I love it!!

Yeah more space were required, even if it didn't take all space.

You are the best EQ2Alyza

Average Bootleg installation requires about 30GB for the final install and the temp files.

Yeah if you look at the image i put in  http://prntscr.com/32zy0w   then you see there is 38 gig free space AFTER the installation and temp.

I didn't make it clear, but when i said i had 23 GB left, i meant after i downloaded the 16 GB mod pack =)

I also noticed she updated the approximately space required to 30 GB hehe. Maybe change it to 35, to be absolutely clear. And I noticed also that if you have steam on a different HDD then make sure that HDD have space also, make sound like its obvious and common sense, but when the mind is set to find out a problem in one HDD then you might forget about the second HDD. I did.

You caught me!  :) It was an honest copy/paste mistake. This guide is almost two years old now (wow), and that's what I had for older versions that required less space.
