Whoa... I thought that was done only because It was a C drive thing didn't think the same would apply to the D drive...
True, drive D:\program files  is (probably) not a system folder.
Easier would be "D:\FF7" that would have caused less confusion ;D

Well I've never seen anyone name a system folder like Program Files in a non-OS drive, so I was just confused.

You are starting with Bootloader?
You now have the music-files inside "D:\program files\Final Fantasy 7\FINAL FANTASY VII\FF7Music\OSTRe" ?

This is the app.log, also interesting, but not for music...

You have interrupted the movie?
Then it's no wonder!
The music is waiting to play with until shortly before the end of the first Movie.
If you can not wait, the music will not sound again before the next track to be played.

Oh well...   "Doing the num-nut dance with an Idiot cone on his head"

Thanks for the help and I swear the last time I defeated that guy the music did not come...

Edit - just realized I can use multiple steam library folders.

Ok, I installed following the guide and 1 hour into the game everything seems to have worked out fine, except... Tifa's battle model is broken (she's using the original one and her textures are messed up). Is there a simple way for me to fix one broken model without doing the whole reinstalling rigamarole again?

Some more info on the situation: I chose one of the HQ models for her. I also chose a ponytail from the separate hairstyle mod selector. Maybe these are clashing? There's also the fact that against recommendation I installed in a system folder (because it's the steam version) so has that caused some corruption maybe?

It's not unplayable or anything so I'll just keep going for now but it'd be nice to fix.

EDIT: I would respond to the PM Template sent but I can't (I'm going to assume new users can't PM) so I'll just say thanks here, and others don't have to respond to this post since I got the answers I wanted.

Hi,

Quick (potentially stupid) question.. why do we need to avoid installing to a system folder? Is it to do with Windows permissions? I'm just not too keen on moving my whole Steam folder and am wondering if there is an alternative work-around...

Cheers
Hey, I think your question has sorta been answered by the one below it. It just seems to cause problems all around in mysterious and devious ways. I don't know the technical explanation but it has something or other to do with file permissions, just as you supposed. Something about the virtual store maybe? It's bad, mmmkay?  :-P

Im having problems doing step 0, the programme cant find ff vii (im using steam version if thats causing issues).

Game Converter can't find Steam version as of yet, try it without that step and you'll be fine I think, there is another version imbedded in the bootleg install; please report back if you have any issues.

Totally unrelated: I'm storing my digital copy of the non-Steam version on Google Drive for safe keeping. 15GB kinda hard to fill but omg it's taking forever. 2+GB upload on Time Warner standard dig. I get faster uploads with wifi, it's bizarre. Stillllll testing.

There is a way to fix it without running Bootleg again.

1. Find your battle model here: https://www.ff7catalog.com/threads/9413/
2. Download and open this tool: http://www.mediafire.com/download/zxj5iyzzmwi/UNLGP+LGP+0.5+Automatic+By+Kranmer.exe

  • Check the box for Unlpg battle.lpg and run it.
  • In the new folder it opened, place your Tifa battle model parts inside. Overwrite when asked.
  • Run the tool again, this time checking the box for Rebuild battle.lpg

I believe the ponytail mod will only display on her Field and Battle models if you chose PRP versions. That's the only time I've every used the ponytail at least.

The reason you can't PM is because there is a 5 post limit before being allowed to PM.

Im having problems doing step 0, the programme cant find ff vii (im using steam version if thats causing issues).
Hmm, I thought I used mine on the Steam version just fine. Let me test it again, and I'll edit this post when my results.

The problem is, I do not have a registry key from the Steam version, and manually input the path I want to avoid...

The "Team Avalanche HR" option in the Textures group supposedly has a new Barret model. If I choose this option, will the Barret model I chose be overwritten by the "Team Avalanche HR" Barret model?

No, any models you choose on the Player tab will take priority.

Thanks, I was wondering about that.
Also, I don't believe it's possible to choose which new SFX you want. I hope that's a feature in the next release. I tried using a debug command (I don't want to give the guy who gave it to me in trouble, plus I don't remember his name anyways, so...) to do it manually and I ended up filling up all the space on my D: drive (and making myself look like a total noob in the process). I guess I should talk about that to PitBrat, though.

I was able to get the mods to work with the Steam download but is there a way to get the game to play through Steam where it tracks your time and achievements?
