Im just gonna go ahead with the uninstall and reinstall.. do I need to uninstall bootleg and bootloader also or should i set those aside in a different folder for when i reinstall???
Oh sorry, I almost forgot. Completely delete your old installation folder as it will leave all the leftover mods. Installing back into that folder will cause a mess without deleting the junk first.Im just gonna go ahead with the uninstall and reinstall.. do I need to uninstall bootleg and bootloader also or should i set those aside in a different folder for when i reinstall???
This is answered in the FAQ: https://www.ff7catalog.com/posts/158568/
I tried the FF7config.exe fix and I'm still getting the same error. I've gone through a bunch of reinstallations of FF7 and reinstalling bootleg. I got one to work, but it crashed as soon as I hit a battle. I think my antivirus quarantined a battle file. Still trying to install the mods. Are there any conflicts with certain mods that may cause the game to not even start?
Step 8: Once you have downloaded all the red colored files, your mod list should be entirely yellow and green. Now you are ready to install !
IMPORTANT: Disable any Anit-Virus and Firewall software, and close any Internet Browser before continuing.
Click the red button labeled "Run Bootleg" to the right.
Yeah, I realize this is inconvenient for some people because they may have lots of Steam games already installed. Be my test dummy and try installing as normal, then copying the FINAL FANTASY VII folder into D:\Games\. Make sure Bootleg is pointing to that folder for the game directory before you run it.So on the tutorial, it suggested to install the steam version of ff7 on D:\Games\Steam. So does that mean I have to install the entire steam folder on a disc drive? Plus I assume I cant use FF7 BootLoader since the game is installed in my steam folder when it needs to be mounted.
I tried disabling my antivirus, firewall, and clearing the registry. I reinstalled the game and tried to do a fresh mod install as well. Everything seemed to be going well. All the mods seemed to install correctly with no errors. I made sure FF7config had my sound device selected, and Aalis custom driver was being recognized. When I start it up, I still get a black cmd box, and then nothing. If I try to run it through FF7music, it just tells me that that ff7.exe stopped working. This is answered in the FAQ: https://www.ff7catalog.com/posts/158568/

I read someone else was having trouble with the latest NVIDIA drivers. I don't know if that could be an issue.
Hello,
The postprocessing shaders don't work correctly, as far as anyone here can tell. Maybe they used to.I've got everything downloaded and running however I can't use the post filters without the graphics becoming a complete mess
Please post the contents of the file APP.log (it's a text file just open it and copy the text) in Code: [Select]then my main screen goes black as if the game is launching, then I get back to my desktop.
Thanks for your quick reply. I went to config.exe and chose custom driver as I didn't do that before. A window appear telling me "Self test passed! You are now ready to use the custom driver. See ff7_opengl.cfg for configuration." As for the sound, the test is passed. If I had to take a wild shot in the dark you maybe need to just run ff7config.exe and make sure to choose and test your sound output. The custom driver should be already chosen for you in video settings. Test midi too but that's probably fine, too.
Look at this... however I can't use the post filters without the graphics becoming a complete mess,...
Are you sure that you have the English version of Steam? It is in french as I am french. However the game is installed english speaking.

I look back your situation more clearly now. Maybe this is an issue with your dual desktop manager program? ff7.exe is trying to close it, or something. You disable second screen you say, but can you close the program that controls it?I have done the solution for DLL problem, but now Windows journal gives me this problem : "A request to disable the Desktop Window Manager was made by process (FF7.exe)"
I am running a dual screen with extended desktop but I already tried to deactivate the second screen and I still go the same error.
Not sure what that program would be. To deactivate the multi screen, I simply goes in the "screen resolution" of windows and just say that I want my desktop on my first screen.and before...
