Tell, is it possible to install only the new character models and continue play in Steam cloud?

If you launch the game through steam it should work that way, yes. You wont have the new menus, backgrounds, or sound though. The only advantage you'll have is Cloud saving and achievements. Cloud saving is nice, but not horribly necessary, and the achievements for this game are just silly.

~only if you lgp them though btw. If you're using 7thwrapper than they wont show up in Steam.

Two guesses: Either you're using a pc and selected laptop keyboard option in bootleg, or you're using a laptop and didn't select the keyboard option.

It looks like you have a pc. The controls now use the side number keys. I don't remember them all though because I use a controller. Ok is the enter button though at least, and menus.... + maybe.

Greetings! First of all, great work on this enormous mod collection and tools, and thank you all for making them! It's amazing what you guys put together.

Now, I don't wish to impose but maybe someone can help me with this. I'm getting a reliable crash whenever Jessie explains the train's route, and the game tries to cut to the FMV showing the train passing. I'm guessing it's a missing or incorrectly referenced FMV (the ontrain.avi mainplr.avi one), but I thought I'd ask you people since, well, you're the experts. :)

I scoured this thread, did a search both here and on the net, and didn't find anything. I'm using Win7, the Steam version of the game, Bootleg correctly installed (including compatibility with the old version of FF7), with an ATi graphics card. The game runs alright, if a bit unstable, and the mods work fine too. It's just that one crash that's stopping me from continuing on. My APP.log can be found below:

It would be really great if someone could take a look at this. Thanks a lot in advance!

edit: I did some more checking and it seems the ontrain.avi (the one where Cloud jumps on the train) is fine, since I can get past that. The avi that causes the crash is mainplr.avi, where you see the train rounding the pillar. The .avi is present in the game directory and opens fine in VLC.

Sorry about the confusion :)

Hiya,
Almost all of your issues are discussed on the FAQ
1. Looks like you are using an old driver version for your AMD graphics card. Update to 13.5beta2 as advised in the FAQ. Do not update to a newer driver than 13.5beta2, that is the latest driver that WORKS for bootlegged FF7. It's not very old either. Anyway, it's best to uninstall your drivers first (you can do that with the 13.5 installer even), then restart your computer, then run the installer again and put on the newer drivers.
2. Turn PBO and Post Processing off. VBO works fine, you might consider turning on Texture caching if you haven't--it will make things run smoother once textures have been cached once.

Alright, I'll give those suggestions a go, thanks!

edit: It seems like that did it, got past the problem area without a hitch. Thanks a lot!

How can i use brazilian translation in this version mod? i modded with tifa's bootleg + tifa's package, but i want play in brazilian portuguese!

I don't have access to the Portuguese version. If you use touphscript to extract the text from the original Portuguese game, then you can reinsert that text into the modified game.

how can i add mods on top of bootleg40 using 7th heaven, and then run the game through bootloader? help appreciated :(

Bootloader and 7thHeaven are both game launchers. They also have other functions, so you can still use bootloader to make changes to Aali's driver configuration, the data path (CD or ISO drive for the disc check), etc. But if you want to use 7thHeaven, you have to launch FFVII from the 7thHeaven application. It is totally compatible with bootleg, it just needs to launch from its own GUI.
sdf_zps330731d2.png

I know, I know, but it says I need to insert disc1!
Well, I don't have time to make a tutorial or whatever to fix this, and even if I did people wouldn't read it and ask anyway. All you have to do is Name an iso, there are several blank isos floating around the forum in fairly logical places (the FAQ, for example) that are titled properly and will pass the disc check for the old exe. How do you make them work? Google it! I use UltraISO lots of people use DaemonTools. Mount the FF7DISC1 iso wherever you want, and then make sure the data path in the Bootleg or FFVII registry is set to the drive where you mount that ISO or VirtualHardDisc or USBstick or Floppy disc, or whatever.
THIS:

Is what this does:
a20cc2ff-191e-4ec1-9e8c-c2dfc62a5696_zps4d08fcaf.jpg

If you have bootleg installed you can set the path from bootloader.
If you don't have bootleg installed, you can edit the registry like in the first picture with regedit. Google it!

Ok, I've looked all over the place and did some searches on these forums, nothing seems to help my problem. Everything in the mod seems to work right, except that I don't have any music. Sound effects work fine. I've tried the solutions in these threads to no avail:

https://www.ff7catalog.com/posts/166404/
https://www.ff7catalog.com/posts/177165/
https://www.ff7catalog.com/posts/167132/

Any other ideas? The only thing I did after I ran the bootleg installer was to replace the opening movie with the HD one that Square redid. Anything would help! I can throw my own music on and it's ok, but I'd really love to play with real FF7 music.

Edit: I can apparently get it working with the original FF7 soundtrack but I'd prefer to have the remastered music. At least I have something now. Any ideas on how to get the remastered music working?

If you have integrated my folder in your game folder and use bootloader, you should first rename the folder "FF7Music".
All Stuff is in the folder "Ficedula".

Maybe you have set the MIDI device in FF7Music (Playback Options) to the same device as in FF7Config.

If that does not help, post your "FF7Music.log" in here.

Hey guys, great work you've done here! I have everything installed and the game runs, but im encountering a problem. Actually, someone on the first page had the exact same problem, so ill just quote him: "first FMV dont not show, stay in black screen and after barret say new comer folow me,i have to press menu for show image game"

So yea, it skips the fmv, skips the mini fight when they're leaving the train, i see a textbox saying: "newcomer follow me", and the screen remains black. Then once i press menu, i can see the screen.

Im running on admin, have my av disabled, set up my config to the exact same settings that the main post had it as. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Hiya, please post your APP.log text file from your main game directory if you have further difficulties.

I'm guessing you just need to set your movie path. Try going to bootloader config and set movie path to YourInstallPath\YourFF7GameDirectoryName\data\movies if it isn't. If you look for your movies in your game directory, there should be files in either the *.*\movies\  <or>  *.*\data\movies\ folders. If there are no files in either one, install an FMV package such as DLPB's or cmh175's. You can find almost any mod from the sticky Big List of Mods in the FAQ & tutorial section.

So I looked around... and found this genius post: The Multilanguage Thread
(Actually, they just updated their post or I never woulda found it in General Discussion.) It should be in FAQs and there's some scripts we can rip from that thread. I don't think Chinese will work but Portuguese should. I plan on adding language support to 7thHeaven. For the moment, here's an unencoded Portuguese flevel that SHOULD be compatible with bootleg40. Do NOT use the Menu Overhaul on it, especially not the retranslation.

To encode this downloaded folder into the flevel.lgp file you need--use uLGP .5 and replace the flevel.lgp in your Game Directory after backing up the original. The Portuguese Mod linked from the Multilanguage Thread looks legitimate, but it's beta so use it at your own risk and back up your files.

Non-English language installs are not compatible (completely or not at all) with any mod that changes the game script, unless the mod is in that specific language.
