Hey I'm having this problem at the moment too, I've just installed your FF7Music with the remastered soundtrack.

I've checked all file names/ paths and I've also tried opening the game from various sources (launching using the new method, launching FF7Music first etc) and I get no music. I have copied the contents of the FF7Music folder to the Ficedula folder incase it was reading from the wrong directory.

I have tried both with the plugin option on and off in Aali's driver. I've also got Windows 7x64. I have sound effects, just no music.

EDIT: Somehow, mysteriously resolved itself.

well no sounds play on mine i wonder how i need to fix this what did you mess around with to make it work?

Nothing, I just entered configuration and checked the plugins were correct for the remastered soundtrack then it worked. Didn't change a thing.

what did you check for exactly? also it seems to stop my audio on my computer and then i have to restart it to get it back

are you sure,, it does'nt give me any viruses,,,and will it work without the custom driver installed..

try to check the original ff7config.exe! maybe your sound hardware output isn't set correctly. as i know for my own the covarr/ficedula music mod worked after setting the right soundcard. should be an entry in your windows registry i think

Great mod, thanks for all the hard work.

That said, I have an odd error. My music plays just fine, but I don't get any sound effects. What should I look at for a fix?

Thanks.

Covarr,
In your next release, you might forcefully remind people to correctly configure their sound and midi devices.
Seems like every other problem posted has the same solution!

Maybe, but I consider this installer finished as of the last bugfix. Unless something major changes (new version of Windows comes out that requires different compatibility settings, someone makes a new remixed/remastered soundtrack, ficedula releases a new version of the ff7music exe, a new bug is discovered), there won't be another release. I'm certainly not going to make another release just to automatically open ff7config and force them to change their audio settings.

edit: However, ff7config just changes a few things in the registry, nothing more. I might be able to have them set it within the installer without touching ff7config. I'll look into it.

I checked to make sure that I was using the correct plugin in FF7Music. I wanted to use the remastered OGG soundtrack so I made sure the correct plugin was being used.

Another thing I did was copy the entire contents of the "FF7Music" folder into the "Ficedula" folder. I now have needless duplicates of all the files, but I really can't tell which FF7Music is being run because I'm using the new boot .exe that launches both the game itself and the FF7Music program.

Incidentally, if I want to add my own music tracks but otherwise keep the OGG playlist, am I able to just substitute the files? Or should I covert mp3 to ogg first?

Copying everything into the Ficedula folder won't make any difference. In fact, the launcher will still only use the original files anyway.

Yeah, as long as you have in_mad.dll in the right folder (hint: if you used my installer, you do), it will read mp3 files even if it's not the actively selected plugin. For convenience sake, there should be a "Custom_Music" folder, so you can keep the stuff you added yourself separate from the stuff that comes with it.

I have a small issue. When I play the game, whether resuming from a save or starting a new game, all the music plays twice at one time. I think it's because the MIDI doesn't not play.

It sounds like this.

I followed the readme, but I can't seem to fix the issue.

I'm guessing you updated Aali's driver after installing this? The latest version of this should take care of that issue on its own, but what you can do is, in your ff7 directory, open "ff7_opengl.cfg", find the line that begins with "#music_plugin", and remove the #.

I checked it. It is removed. I'm also running Vista Home Premium 32-bit SP2.

In which case, Aali's driver is probably not working properly. Unfortunately, I only check if it's there, not if it's actually installed or set up right.

Open ff7config.exe (make sure to run as administrator!) and in the graphics tab choose custom driver.

Yup. Much better. Thanks for the fix. I was using my NVIDIA driver. I guess I can't, but the graphics look just as good.

Make sure you don't use anything above the nVidia 266.58 drivers, they break Aali's driver.

I've tried everything O.o still get double playing music - this the error log taken from ff7music.exe ! If anyone can help plz let me know, many thanks! :)

Two things:
1. Make sure you are using Aali's custom driver. Open ff7config.exe AS ADMIN and choose "custom driver" in the dropdown menu in the graphics tab.
2. If that doesn't work, open ff7_opengl.cfg, find the line that begins with "#music_plugin" and remove the #.
