FF8 Crashes to desktop with ATI RADEON x700 (PCI-X)

I've read a lot of solutions from this forum (mostly for geforce cards :S )and already tried some.. no good. Is there any known way to fix this for the "latest" radeon? I mean, already tried an outside FF8config that aaron posted somewhere and a bunch of stuff.. but no one seems to have a solution for this :S

have you tried solutions for "normal" radeons? ;] nvidia patch will work fine.

really? :XXXX I'll give it a try in it (i tried it in my desktop PC with gf6600GT and didnt work.. thats why i never considered it in radeons )
