FF8 installation move?

I want to move my FF8 installation over to my laptop I had some great difficulty getting the game setup/installed and working.

Is there a way to just copy the game dir and possibly the reg files over to another PC and it would work or is it best to fresh install *pray* and then enhance the game with the custom patches etc?

Install the game then copy the directory over the install.

I'll give this a try (never did think about that) and see how it goes if not I shall just start from scratch then port the save game files over.
