ff8 stutters when playying movies, doesn't happen on sisters computer, got win xp,help please

What are computer specs?  If you're using the PC version, movies could shudder if you don't have a fast enough CD drive, enough RAM, or a fast enough processor.

Try turning on the "low-res movies" option in the config.

Details Zophixan, Details!

First off: PC or PSX?

How much RAM, What Processor (Include mHz or gHz count), and How fast is your CD-ROM?

Finally, you ARE aware that there HAVE been some problems with FF8 PC & XP/2000, right?

*Should* handle the game very well.  What is your processor speed?

I dunno... try the low-res movies option in the configurator.  Also try getting the patch (1.2 or 1.02 or whatever).

tried the patches and the lost res movies and it stil stutters, why does it work on my sisters slower computer?
btw cpu=athlon 1.4mhz

Nope its running in dma, I've noticed its a there's a problem with bink in games but not when running avi files in windows xp

Possibly some problem with the video options in Bink; the default option in Binkplay is to use a DirectDraw surface and on my old video card (Savage4) that was a *lot* slower than the YUV overlay option ... unfortunately, while you can change that for the standalone bink player, there's no way to make FF8 use a different type of playback.

I never solved it on my card; it's possible different drivers might resolve it.

You tried getting the new drivers?

Detonator drivers 28.32 for Windows XP came out not very long ago.  I got them and the sped some things up.
