This is supposed to be an alternative to the Tripod mod.

The goal is to make an as accurate as possible HD remake of every Triple Triad texture/card, to the original game.

I could use some help getting the pictures for cards cut out into transparent pngs.
Any help is appreciated.

As this mod is in it's very early steps, all I have done so far is the game table

Download:

How to install:
Download an zzz extractor and packer such as zzzDeArchive:
https://www.ff7catalog.com/threads/13459/
Use it to extract your main.zzz somewhere convenient (Protip: Make a copy of any .zzz files you modify, in case something goes wrong.)
Download the above zip file and copy it's contents to where you extracted main.zzz, overwriting any files as necessary.
Use your zzz extractor/packer to pack the main.zzz folder back up (in case of zzzDeArchive, be sure to rename the created zzz file "out.zzz" back to main.zzz)
Then copy the modded main.zzz back into your "FINAL FANTASY VIII Remastered" directory, again overwriting as needed.

hi , do you think that the remastered version of this game would finally allow to inject the modded textures and so replacing the default ones? it would be a great step foward compared to how we usually load the modded textures, also do you know the name of the file that contain the values of the cards ?

I've yet to have any crashes due to modifying the main.zzz, are you sure you've done everything properly?

I've probably repacked main.zzz 20 times now without any crashes.

I had planed to do them all but due to some personal stuff I had to stop. But I'm happy to continue making them new pictures if we get a card mod working.
Also made bomb and had it up on redbubble. https://www.redbubble.com/people/ironmad/works/24740433-final-fantasy-viii-bomb-monster?p=t-shirt  (at work atm, I'll edit out the link to redbubble once I have uploaded bomb.

Also, new frames are needed.

That would be awesome, I just need to make the last two frames.
I am in the process of cutting out the character pictures, while also considering doing an alternate art version of them later down the line.
 
Since the top tier cards use art over the 3d models, have you thought about using art to the rest of deck? Plenty of concept art to use and perhaps asking artists for permission to use their arts to cover other ones not done by concept.

Just wanted to throw my thoughts into this.

Im new here.
Im quite excited when i heard the news of FF8 remaster but pretty bummed out by the lazy amount of work put into it by the dev.
So heres my rendition of the triple triad card for character card frame which i hope it stays true with the original work and art direction of TT.
 
I was also working on triple triad textures, but the quality of work here is above mine.

@Hikashi very high quality borders, that is what I would expect from a game with remaster in the title.

I would love to use your card border in my most recent Tripod: Remastered release as one of the border options - would that be ok?  I wanted to release the mod tonight and have already integrated your card borders as a test in one of my packs. If not, just let me know, and I'll use the borders I have available to me for the Character cards.

Definitely! Going to be working getting better images for the cards so maybe all of us should collaborate?
