FF8 savegame problem, please help!

I've been playing this on my PC but want to transfer to my laptop. I have it all installed nicely (contrary to popular beleif, it runs fine on vista for me!) but I want to move my save game over. Logic says it's in the FinalFantasyVIII/Saves/Slot1 folder, but it isnt. The only files in the Save folder are 2 folders called Slot 1 and Slot 2, which are both completely emtpy, even with hidden folders turned on.

I don't wanna have to start all over again! Anyone know where the save games could possibly be?

play the game to the first save point... save... then the folders should show up. lol.
Then just copy and paste the folder into your save directory.

Or just copy and paste the save folder via flash drive from the beginning.
