ok i dunno exactly where to put this, so i'll put it here.

i have borrowed ff9 from a friend, and now i'm trying to get t working on my pc. currently i'm using Epsxe with Delta to configure it, but for some reason new screen loading (new background) takes time with glitches in the sound and going into battle is real slow so is the battle itself. GFX wise.

i tried diff settings, but getting tired of trying them out all the time. Does someone know another emulator or simular program with wich i can normally play?? :)
 
Can you give us some details on your ePSXe setup (i.e., what plug-ins are you using)?

FF9 works fine for me in ePSXe.

[Edit] Lol... I can't spell "ePSXe."

i somehow figured out what the lag is, the loading of the cd takes time :S the game has to load and load and load and new scenes/battles magic in battles he needs to load them and that is somehow kinda slow.

oh and tried the d3d mode u gave nori, but i got loads of artifacts with that :p

going to stop for 2night and try again tommorow, i got kinda far, but with low fps, buggy sound it isn't that fun to play :p and i only got 50 jumps with the jump rope :p
 
Yeah, and if nothing is loaded off the CD for a minute or so, your CD drive spins down, and the game freezes to wait for the CD drive to spin back up when it needs to load something.

Try making an image of your CD and using the "RUN ISO" command to play the game from your hard drive... this will kill that problem.

well i use Delta to configure etc, but i can't find the select path for iso option :p oh and btw, nero can make iso? cause i usually get cue and bin files from nero :p

I've never used Delta; if it is like ePSXeCutor, it doesn't bring up the ePSXe main window, it just launches the game (expecting it to be in the CD-ROM drive).  However, in ePSXeCutor, you can kill this behavior (by checking the "Start ePSXe GUI" box in the config)... then you can select to run the game from an image.  Maybe you should use that if Delta does not have this option.
 
well used delta cause other wise the game would run @ 5 times normal speed..

oh and the eternal SPU plugin isn't in my list of music configs ... there is one that is not pete's, but there isn't config button on that one :p

The game is running at 5 times normal speed?  Check to make sure you have the frame limit enabled in your GPU plug-in, and the limit is set to 60 (50 for PAL games).  I've had auto-detect limit NOT work before, so I usually set it.
 
I haven't played FF9 for some time (Well, 3 months..) but IIRC the latest ePSXe version will cause a crash in a FMV in Disc 1, (That's what I think) so I guess it's just a fair "warning"... initially I thought it was my disc which was causing the problem (I bought it for $7.50 in a gamestore; pre-owned copy so that explains the price) ... but after searching the ngemu forums I found out that certain ePSXe versions don't really like FF9...

v1.5.2 is the one I use just in case if you're interested...
 
Keep in mind, I haven't used epsxe for about 2 years, so I'm truly out of date, but....


First I suggest making Iso files of your disks and play them off your harddrive....using winr, that will make the FMV's play a lot smoother


I suggest using Null2's 1.3 Audio driver for FF9 and only for FF9, it sucks for any other game, but it makes the music sounds very, very good (not so much the sound effects) with FF9...I suggest the internal sound for any other games.

You do have to configure Null2's correctly or you'll get lag, and bad reverb type sound during FMV's.

I have all the options checked on the first menu
....and for config:
22050hz, 16bit
buffer length 20
block 10

enable tone cache, use reverb, enable vag stream and linear interpolation checked. (I really don't know if this is all necessary, for the check boxes and I don't know what they mean or do either)

It wouldn't be a bad investment, just getting a PS2. There are a lot of games worth playing on it.

making the iso and that sound plugin u gave nori are working good now. and all graphics run good. and evrything runs smoth :). evrything but, Entering a battle :( that goes REALLY slow with REALLY slow sound and gfx when in the battle it goes nice, but thats it :p going to try some diff settings, if ne one has an idea, i'll read it here

EDIT *update*

ok i kinda figured out something. In OpenGL mode entering battles goes like getting coffee and being back and finally. With D3D mode this is also true but only when i have FrameBuffer Acces on option 2 or later, with Hardware Blending. On OpenGL i have Advanced blending on but with none of the Framebuffer options it goes right. so real strange.

Oh and nori the Quotes u gave the final option: [0002304201] something like that, wich options do u have one then, can't figure it out :p

so i'll just run in D3D mode, looks nice enough :)
 
Hmmm... the battles for me in ePSXe is damn slow at around 10fps. How do i fix it? I used these settings:

i used your settings, and been using diff configs, but battles go damn slow for me too. but it isn't the fps, cause the fps indicator said it was running @ around 45 fps. its just slow motion battle. I don't know how to fix this atm i willl keep trying, openGL tuns quite faster and nicer looking then D3D :p

lets just w8 for the peeps who know more about this to come :)

Yea... the motion of it seem reallie to have DROPPED.. but when i played it last time it went perfectly fine.. i guess i will try to use the older version 1.65 to play it, cause i played very far when using the OpenGL plugin ver. 1.65..

When i test it and get a result, i will post back. :D
