FFVII Crashing On New Game/Continue Screen

after installing with Bootleg, the game crashes when going to the New Game/Continue screen.  a vanilla install works fine.

There might be a problem with your video card and the high res textures.
Use Bootloader to configure the game to run in Safe Mode.
If the game runs in safe mode, then you can slowly enable features one at a time.

Post the first few lines of the Bootleg.log file.
The INFO section should be enough to determine your configuration.
 
Also make sure DEP is set to add ff7.exe or disabled if using menu overhaul.

Thanks, that seems to have been the problem, though it didn't need to be completely disabled.
