hi.  i was just wondering if u need to have the game for the computer for the fmv bink thing that plays fmv's to work, or if u can use the playstation cd's .

If you have the PC Version, you only need to select the files from the CD.If you have the PSX Version, go to http://www.psxemu.com" TARGET=_blank>www.psxemu.com  under downloads/tools and get PSXPlay, or any other PSX Movie Player, and play the *.str files from the disc, or from HDD. No diffrence..

Note: I don't know whether you guys notice this or if the FF9 CDs are spoiled: The movie player can't play a single STR file!@!@! Or is that Square encodes it's movies in a special format??

Works on my PSX movie player. Not all of them can play FF9 movies though, so you do need to find one that supports it.

My player and discs work, but the player I used was in japanese....

I use...um...the one which looks like Winamp...PSM Play? Cant remember, but it works fine with FF9 movies. Look for it on Zophar's domain.

Lol. I think it comes in a .zip file, right? You'll need something like   http://www.winzip.com" TARGET=_blank>Winzip   to open it. Then extract the files to a folder and run the PSM Play EXE file.EDIT: Hmmm, for some reason instead of writing and linking to Winzip i did it to Winamp. Eh?

when i tried it the psm thing couldn't read the disc.  i tried having the thing analyzed, but it still won't play it.

Um, I dunno. So you analyzed that CD? Then you save the file? Then you opened the analyzed data file via the menu? If that didnt work then......uh, dont ask me!

I have had the same problem. I tried three or four different psx movie play utilities with both us (ntsc) and uk (pal) versions and... nothing. I don't know what's the problem but I just played the game and watched all the fmvs.
