First, Ultima:

You need to find a way to have Ultima access the LGP files, and have the option to mass-convert a whole character. (Listed by their LGP names, ie: n_cloud_sk, sd_red_sk, ect.)

Also have the option, when mass converting, to make a TXT file list of all the different colors.

Also, being able to see/edit the whole model at once would be nice.

Now for Ifalna:

Can you add XYZ co-ords for the bone positions? With both this, and their rotation HPB (Heading, Pitch, Bank) would greatly increase it's ease. As would a funtion to confirm that you've editied the action the way you want, before it takes effect.

Also, have you noticed that you can't see the rotation edits unless your in Animation mode? I don't think that this is a good idea. If you start to edit while in animation mode, it should stop playback immediatly and you should see the rotation as you change it. When you're done, it continues playing with the edit.

These are just thought and things I would like to see in the near future.

Oh, and here is the fruit I've created with the help of both your programs:

I just rendered that in Lightwave, my perferred 3D program.

I thought 'bout that LGP access, too, but I think Fice's LGPTools are VERY good, so I don't need to program a crappy function for Ultima.

Whole Models: Yes, yes, I know...

Seph3D: You can't change the bone XYZ position ... the whole point of a skeletal based system is that the moves don't move, they just rotate.

BTW: In LGP Tools, if you preview a HRC file there's a right click option "Export Skeleton" which extracts the HRC and all linked RSD/P/TEX files to a folder for you.

I'm not currently working on Ifalna, but yes, there are more things need changing in it...

How did you get the vertexs to have a color value in Lightwave. I only know how to give a poly face a sold color property in modeler. Or are you using layout to color the model? I don't work with layout too much as I render things using POV-RAY. (And sadly, POV can't do colors on vertexes, only solid colors and textures)

Well, Here's the nice part: Field models use light to shade the models, while the battle models use vertex specific colors. (Which I haven't been able to get to look right in LW when compared to Ultima)

I just assign them the specific colors that the original models have, (Pink, Skin, shoe, hair, coat, bracelets, and those gray things) then render without shadows using a distance light in Layout. The face is achieved by mapping the eyes and the mouth onto specific polygons. I then use LW's Skelegons to bone the model for easy arrangement, similar to the way the real models are boned.

BTW: I now have the REAL Sephiroth, and I'm working on Vincent.

As far as Battle models go, I'm still working on coloring my Sephiroth Battle Model.

hehe... colouring a battle model - that's gonna be a fine piece of work

Friend of mine told me that 3d editors like Max & LightWave 7 have this feature, to select a vertex-color, so it should look right, why to color model ?

Actually, LW6.5 has Vertex coloring abilities. Sadly, the results are directly related to the color of the model. I think I've fixed this in LW, but I still have a LOT of coloring to do, and frankly, I'm busy trying to get version 2.0 of Sephiroth 3D's Final Fantasy together. I wanted it online by the 1st, but I've obviously missed that date. I WANT to get it online by saturday, so I'm working on it now.

When I get Sephiroth's battle model looking right, I'll post a topic on battle model coloring, and tell you all what I did and I'll have a few renders too.

Speaking of which, here's something for those Vincent/Aeris fans:

Hope you like it! This is the power of Alhexx's and Fice's programs!

Seph 3D : Completely cool, I wish I had more time to work on FF7 at the moment

WHOA!

That's 110% Quality!!! I'm HIGHLY impressed! That looks really cool!

Keep on this excellent work!

yeah, neat. But looks like too much work for that. It is already done, so why to do it again. Just find a proggy that'll render it right.

I want it because it gives me a feeling of doing something with the tools Alhexx and Fice have spent a lot of time developing.

Also I'll have them ready for Fan Art renders or even making CGI movies for the remake.

If I can get my battle models put together and colored correctly, I'm going to up the quality of them and make myself some good movie models for the cut scenes. So this is simply just a 1-step-at-a-time thing.

Hmm, If we arn't able to decode the File formats all the way. Why not just make a FF7 movie with the models and a little subdividing. That means all we have to do is break the 3d battle backgrounds. I can offer wireframs for what to look for. I'm clueless over even where the battle backgrounds are...

I own lightwave 5.5. I much prefer rendering in POV because of the level of control I have. You can write a converter that can take a .a file and change it into a rotation marix .inc and macro the characters.

Well, in my opinion, the way things go, I doubt it will be impossible for us to decode everything in FF7, not unless I suddenly get the urge & time & cooperation of Qhimm to completely take apart the EXE all at once.

Well, I might as well break the news that Fice has started coding an engine for the remake, for those that don't know. *hint*
Well, I'm extremely supportive of the idea to rip as much as we can from the FF7 original files and proceed from there.
The more the better of course, that's why I'll try to find time to work on them.

it would be great if we could see textures in Ultima sometime =)

Sorry Dark: So far, we can't.

hey! Long time to see(no talk:) Well, whats new? Sephiroth 3d, on the new 2.0 version, what will be changed? Hair fixed of the field model? Limits?

Ultima: No, it's not possible to view textures yet. I can't find the info, which vertex uses which texture coords...it won't be possible to view the textures until this'll be done...
