Field model replacements non-functional in 7thHeaven, everything else works

Field background replacements work, but anything that replaces data in char.lgp doesn't seem to work. I unpacked the IRO and compiled my own char.lgp file, and that works, but I'd rather have the ability to activate/deactivate at will. Any suggestions would be most helpful.

I have to reinstall and convert all over again, don't I?
