final fantasy 7 save game issue

so ive been playin ff7 again recently on my windows 7 pc... was having issues with it crashing when i went to get yuffie by fort condor crashed after i beat her in battle every time... i read that runnin in compatability mode would solve the problem... when i switched to compatability mode my save file disapeared... if i go to the save location the file is not there but it still apears when i open jenova to edit my saves... hoping sumone has an idea of what happened to it and how to get it back and possibly how to solve the problem when aquiring yuffie
 
You could try Black Chocobo to edit your save game.  I can't recall hearing this problem before though, so it could just be a matter of you needing to to a complete and full install of the game.
 
i already tried to uninstall and redo the install of the game still the same problem... save folder is empty but jenova loads the save... im not far into the game but still dont wanna hafta restart lol just got past the annoying begining and am at the point that i can actually play the game
 
ill try black chocobo and see if it gets me anywhere crossin my fingers
 
well i was able to find the save file using black chocobo as well... trying to see if i can create a new file using the same one right now seems like when i switched to compatability mode it locked the file somehow and isnt letting me access it or find it using explorer but it is definately still there


well made a new file using my old one and still no luck loading it at this point i am beyond confused lol

Well if someone's not along shortly to help you out, I'd suggest either starting over or using one of the saves from that link I gave you to at least help you catch back up quickly.
 
will do like i said i wasnt far (just shortly out of midgar) but i dont wanna hafta do the midgar part again lol so if i cant figure the issue out tonight ima suck it up and get a save from the net... thank you for ur help so far :P
 
I dunno if you realize this but obesebear already sent you a link to every save at every point in the game that you could possibly need. Of course you could just edit your save with black chocobo(BC) to add yuffie in your party manually. To do this just go into the "other" tab of BC and check her name in both the PHS boxes, then, in the same tab, make sure the "Can Fight Yuffie in Forests" is unchecked. Then in the "Party" tab just give her reasonable stats for that point in the game. That will solve your probably since you won't have to fight yuffie at all. Also I thought somebody had written a patch for this but I couldn't find it
 
yah i noticed he did lol... as far as yuffie goes thats kinda what i was planning on doing anyway... still no luck gettin my old save back tho so ima just grab another one think i saw one for the point i was at in his link just makes me sad that i wasnt able to retrieve the old one i really liked the setup i had at that point in the game


so after tweaking with black chocobo for a lil bit i was able to recover my old save... still not sure what made it disapear in my save list but im glad to have it back
