Hi there !!! This is my first post on this forum and i`m glad to meet you all. I have a problem whith Final fantasy 8 regarding the textures of characters or any 3d object in game . It apears that the game isn`t applying any texture filtering and the game looks like it wood look in software mode but it isn`t . I have the latest patch 1.2 it is and the game runs good but the textures look too pixeliated. What can i do to filter them ?  Thanx for the help and pardon my englesh :-)

ah come on ! thosent anybody know? Is it because of the drivers ( 91.47) ? the game works perfect even the FSAA works good but the texture filtering is absent!!
What coud be the problem?  I can try to upload a screenshot but i dont knoe how!?

Are you sure you have everything unchecked in performance options? Make sure you've got Hardware Acceleration switched on too.

thas the thing , all options are unchecked and i`m runing it in harware acceleration

i found the problem. It was the video driver that was too new for this olg game  now it works good

I guess that the solution is to use an older driver... I didn't experience this kind of problem yet with a graphic driver but I did have an old game that didn't work with my lastest sound card driver... I guess it's the same kind of problem.

Why would NEW drivers make OLD games not work?

Please feel free to get all techie on me.

Sometimes new drivers omit old features because the developers think they are no longer required. ATI stopped supporting 8 bit palletted textures sometime after FF7's release, which therefore broke compatibility with the original 1.00 version of FF7. New drivers may also contain bugs which stop old games from working, and as the games aren't played regularly the bugs don't get caught and fixed.

so how can downgrade my video drivers?

Well you got to first remove it then download a older driver and install it ... but if your graphic card is too new I doubt that you will be able to play ff8 without any texture probem until someone fix the compatibility problem.

Thanx, well i got a GeForce2 MX 400, 64mb (if that isn't old i don't knaow what is) but does nvidia have an archive with old drivers that i  can download to use??? or where else can i find them??? thanx a lot again!!!
