Where can I get some nice original, non remixed Final Fantasy/Chrono Trigger/Chrono Cross/etc. MP3's? Oh yeah, and um.. Microsoft make a program called Direct Music Producer that lets you listen to FF8 music... but it is not very easy to set up the first time.

um dont want to cross the law so i cant give exact addresses but have u tried file sharing programs?

Hahaha! I love the avatar today Nayoung!  It's awesome!

Well, Chrono Trigger is SNES, so try checking out the SPC archives at Zophar's Domain.

In case you don't know, SPC files are only 66kb each, and are direct conversions of the actual SNES data.  SPC players are plentiful and easy enough to find, in fact Zophar's Domain, IIRC, has links to a couple of 'em.  In english too, to boot. :D

I could tell, Herr Sephiroth, that it was from Sarah and David.

Haha... Nori, you're fameous :P

[Edit] More on topic, yeah, you can play SPCs with Winamp if you download the plug-in from Zophar's domain.  There are actually two, SPCAmp and SNESAmp... I remember liking one more but I cannot remember which it was (I am leaning towards SNESAmp).  Anyway, it's whichever is based on Anti Resonnance's player, and probably the one that was most recently updated.

And yeah, once you get that the SPCs are actually dang good small alternatives to MP3s.  You can even set the play time and fade time on individual songs if you mess with the settings.

Even better, SPC's generally default to the infinite-loop mode without those fade out settings.  At correct loop points, too, I might add.

I actually recommend the player known as "Super Jukebox", because of the interface of the player, and because this particular one will actually emulate the low-pass filtering the SNES's SPC700 chip did.  While in theory you could try using the Equalizer in Winamp with above-mentioned SPC plugins, it turns out that using the equalizer interferes with the plugin to where you get a LOT of static.

Plus, the Super Jukebox also comes with an MCI driver that will (get this) interface with the original mplayer.exe program, and will show up in that program's device menu, lol.

Oh, and the funniest thing about it.  The core engine file for the Jukebox player itself is called "Uematsu.dll".  I won't blame you if you think it sounds a little familiar..... :P
