Here, in qhimm forum, the best universal forum about modding ff7/8 i just wondering how you guys not interest a lot about unofficial translating projects of ff7 :P

so here it is: a topic dedicated to all ff7 translating projects
-officials first

With FF7 on Steam, I was really hoping that they'd let us play in japanese... Is there actually a way to play the english release with japanese text, or is it still a project in the works?
 
Yes, but SE is a bunch of jerks and region lock their Japanese games.  :cry:

It's be interesting to note which translations are based on what, for instance it's highly likely the original French, German, and Spanish versions are based on the English translation, the Portuguese fan version is in turn based on the original Spanish, and the Chinese fan version is based on the original Japanese.
 
so fancypantz seemed to get his answer in a PM, I however have the same problem.

I'm wanting to play in japanese, how can I go about doing this?

Can someone get me the Steam video of jenova_e (sep with his mother) from Japanese release?
 
japanese language was never released on steam. i have it from the standard japanese non-steam version if you want

Ah yes, of course.  Yeah that one will do.  It's the same video quality anyway, think they shared them.  Upload it for me, I'd be v grateful :)

hey man. i want to ask you something about japanese version.

the ff7_ja.exe is equal with the ff7_en.exe from the rerelease.

i want to create a new japanese ff7.exe (you know the old one from the 98).

since the ff7_ja.exe and the ff7_en.exe have common hex values with the old ff7.exe PLUS new values (that we don't need them), i thought that will be easy, but it isn't.

the result is a new ff7.exe who can't run.

do you interest to help with that?? i think that would be awesome if we could create a "japanese 98 version" based only on official files

I am guessing that has protection, unlike Steam, that doesn't....

since i have the offical release languages done for FF7tk translation (black chocobo) . should i make translations for the unoffical languages using  the item/location names and other in games strings need for the translation(s)?

i think i successfully make a convertion from FF7 PC Japanese language (released 5/2013) into the FF7 STEAM Japanese language (unreleased)

i haven't tested yet cause i don't have steam version but i think it will works fine.

if anyone want to test it, please share with me the result

I DL'd it and put it into my ff7 steam folder, launched the ff7_ja.exe, however everything is still in english...

I'm highly interested in this FF7 PC Japanese language (released 5/2013) or FF7 STEAM Japanese language (unreleased) versions mentioned.
I can't seem to find a way to purchase this standard japanese non-steam title on the Square Enix store. Also, the links shared do not seem to work anymore.

Dawg... That file is from 2014...I'd be surprised if they still have it... But they're still active here. You might get lucky.
