final fantasy viii help

i don't know if i put this in the right section but i need help running my pc version of final fantasy viii and i keep on getting black boxes around the background. is a patch or something that can fix this?

yes but i don't think that will help me with my problem because it didn't.... Aali's custom driver works. It didn't before but now it does but now the blocks are even worse than befor in ways because now i see the blocks and some minor glitches at the start up menu.

also i almost forgot what is squeenix's 1.2 patch for final fantasy viii? is it different than eidos version of the patch? if so, do i need it?
