Friday, oh Friday...

I already have an ASUS Crosshair V Formula but Friday I will be receiving:

2X G.SKILL Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2133 (PC3 17000)

4X Sapphire HD 6970's

Corsair Professional Series Gold High-Performance 1200-Watt Power Supply

RAZER DeathAdder RZ01-00152500-R3M1

Saitek Cyborg V5 Black USB Wired Gaming Keyboard

Blu-Ray Burner

2X 1.5 Terabyte HDD

Intel 320 80GB SSD

Cooler Master Haf-X

Plus a few aesthetic extras(I.E. Matching colered fans. Etc

Is my rig becoming impressive yet?

I will post a build log on overclock, so when I do Ill correspond in this thread as well.

4X Sapphire HD 6970 (in Crossfire I'm expecting) is just complete overkill, not to mention a waste of money.

Not if you fold my friend(And also not if you apply 32x edge detect AA with 16x ANisotropy and triple buffered opengl with v-sync on every 3d app you run.)

Makes ps1 and 2 look WONDERFUL

But PCSX2 doesn't use SLI/Xfire (i don't think ePSXe or PCSX do either)

That is absolute overkill. You might want to read this article:
http://hardocp.com/article/2011/05/19/quadgpu_performance_review_nvidia_vs_amd/

There are major compatibility problems with quad crossfire systems compared to triple setups (yes i know they used dual gpu cards but the same still applies. The just run crossfire on the card between the two chips as well.) And if you are not planning on using eyefinity then those two extra cards are pretty much useless.

The svn builds of pcsx2 does, but your right, the other ones dont(who needs more than 2 gigs of video mem on ps1 anyway.)

Also as stated Im a folder, I fold 20+ hours a day, I might even bitcoin with these things. Who knows.

I will only have tri-fire until I get my ROG XPander, and I cant order that till friday and it comes from hong kong, so I can expect it at about the end of july...(enables 16x-16x-16x-16x crossfire)
I meant to have the most overkill pc I can afford, and I would say Im well on my way. Add 2 custom waterloops and Bulldozer and Ill be set(Also am going to sleeve my cables and get my case powdercoated.

With that amount of heat output then you might want to look into a triple loop. Running more then 2 high wattage components on one loop is not really ideal.

Which SVN builds? I've been following them for a while now and have yet to receive the performance boost with SLI. I am using build 4702 At the moment.

The PCSX2 playground versions if I recall correctly. Im havent emulated in a while so When my new build gets here and put together Ill find it again.

It's Friday!

This makes no sense at all.

I'm seriously going to lol hard if this rig uses an Athlon II ;D

Thats a crosshair 5 formula. AM3+... BD will CRUSH intel. Right now its just a shitty Phenom X4 955 @ 4.0 GHZ 1.45 VCORE

An AMD quad-core is on par with an Intel dual-core. Their shit is weak.

If you wanna go all out on a computer buy the Intel i7 990X and overclock that bitch to 4.2GHz or more.

Dont get your hopes up with Bulldozer. Rumor states that at best it will be on par with sandy bridge. Sandy Bridge E is just around the corner as well as Ivy Bridge, which should blow the socks off anything amd has at the time.

This.

AMD can't compete in the high performance market; it doesn't even try. Their role is to produce CPUs that are good enough for gaming and don't cost too much.

If you feel the need for absurd levels of performance, you should be getting a Sandy Vagina. Spending all that money on your rig and then putting a Bulldozer in there is like buying the Palace of Versailles and filling it with furniture from Ikea.

Go Over to overclock.net to argue these points. BD is CONFIRMED to have 4.2GHZ Turbo, so it will overclock WELL beyond that(possibly 5ghz)

Live in the now!

Wouldn't you agree?

Using clockspeed as a major comparison point... What is this, 1998?

A game benchmark doesn't mean a whole lot, because the vast majority of speed hit is going to be based on graphics card, not on processor.

The reasoning behind that covarr, is I see a TON of intel fans saying that a Phenom II WILL  bottleneck anything higher than a 5770 or crossfire configurations of the 5XXX series or above.

I believe I have proved that fatally wrong.
