I didn't come up with this one, but can't remember where I saw it 1st. A simple google search would probably yeild many sources.

Anyway: Proof women = evil.

As we all know:
women = time * money.
Also, money = time, which brings us to:
women = money * money = money².

And you should know that money is the root of all evil:
money = √evil => (money)² = (√evil)²
Now just replace money² with (√evil)² and you get

women = (√evil)² => women = evil.

There it is. Solid proof.

Just for lols, don't get mad.

False. It's the LOVE of money that's the root of all evil. Common mistake, really.

And the original quote is
For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil.

Not all evil.

Cute but not always true :P

And I'm a math major, so of course I'll be saving this one.

x = y
x^2 = xy
x^2 - y^2 = xy - y^2
(x + y)(x - y) = (x - y) y
x + y =  y
2y = y (from original condition)

And the original quote is
For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil.

Not all evil.
You're probably more versed in the original Greek, but the first English translations say "all evil". This statement has been twisted a lot over the years.

To NFITC1:
If x=y then x-y=0
So" (x + y)(x - y) = (x - y) y "   doesn't imply  " x + y =  y", but only that "0=0"
You can't divide by x-y=0

Edit:I mispelled NFITC1 name, sorry !

The original quote would have been Hebrew.  I've heard "all evil" is wrong there too?

There certainly are women who would satisfy your equation, but only a subset of all women.

I wonder if this is what math people do in their free time

While you didn't spell my handle correctly, you DID identify the incorrectly applied division equality. Not many people see this. :)

The original writing is in Greek. That was the more widely read language in the region at the time.
Regardless, "all evil" is certainly wrong.
