Sooo...  I stumbled across a low poly Geno model on mediafire that seems to link back to a Smash Brothers Brawl forum.


My plan is to import him into the game one way or the other.  Maybe as a replacement of an ally, or even a possible optional boss.   My question to you all is...  if I can locate the other and gain permission to release it, would you rather him be an ally or boss?

looks like your serious  :P i wouldn't mind replacing Cait Sith with this  ;D
 
He has some potential to be an interesting ally, but... wouldn't it be like 30x more work to make him an ally with usable limits, weapons etc.?  And how would he fit into the story?  Unless it is possible to just swap his model and call it a day (I don't think it is).

So, new allies are always fun.  Making him a recurring boss would be cool though.  If it is reasonably feasible, then make him an ally.  If not, then make him a boss and use the leftover motivation and effort on a more meaningful project.  Whatever you decide, Good Luck!
 
storywise geno could just flat out replace cait sith , iirc in mario rpg he is a stuffed toy that comes to life. so all the stuff cait says about being stuffed can just stay :)

Sort of what I was considering.  But then there's the issue of his physical and limit attacks in battle, not to mention having to deal with the Reeve/Geno relationship.


However, I've begun thinking I'd much rather him as an easter egg enemy than replacing an ally.  And I'd like to do it sort of in the way ultima espio integrated Aerith back into the story with his revival project.  It still allows the story to be the same, just adds a little extra to it :)


Also, I did hear back from the modeler of the updated Geno and he gave me permission to use and release his model.  Seems he's very interested in a FF7 Remake, so hopefully he'll come join the efforts of Team Avalanche as well.

Or replace him as the goblin enemy just spruce up his stats to make it a good fight.
 
Just received the model :) Now to cut him up and work on movesets.   If anyone has any ideas for attacks/location/music or even which enemy animations would most closely fit, let me know!
 
Got the model all straightened out and narrowed down the battle music to 3 choices.   School is just so taxing it's hard to find free time.


In looking at his SMRPG sprites I also stumbled on Mallow's sprites.  With all the recent talk about replacing Cait Sith again, I couldn't help but  think....
 
Haha Geno!!! His special attack should be geno whirl, that thing if timed correctly can do massive dmg! I loved SMRPG as a kid. The man at the pawn shop didn't want to sell it to me cuz he thought it would be a waste (I was 7 at the time but I read at a 5th grade lvl and apparently is enough to finish the game lol). My dad bought that game and gave him the finger on our way out lol. Then I showed my friends and relatives and we all played SMRPG. It was so cool when we found Culex (as I hadn't gotten to him on my first try). It would be cool to make cloud and the crew go into a defensive position when hit by him too  lol.
 
So he's going to have to be an ally (Vincent) for now.   The only enemy I can find that seems to remotely fit would be the gi spectre since he has a cape.     This week I have a relative lull in homework and amount of time I have to study, so I may have a proof of concept around Friday.


There has to be a way to substitute an ally as an enemy...
 
Well I figure first and foremost he needs to be matched to a skeleton.  Clearly this is a very early WIP, but you get the idea.

What I will most likely do is make his right lower arm his hand cannon.  Or if I have to leave him as an ally that could be where his weapon switches out from arm cannon to finger shot to star gun, and whatever other weapons he uses.

Also, since he's Vincent, he can transform into that cannon thing he does in SMRPG
